Sweet Sydney = 3 Months Old!
one week old:
one month old:two months old:
three months old:
Her eyes are the same color as JKK's...a deep blue. I love that she got his eye color! However, I'm sad to report: it appears she did not get his skin tone. She's still pasty white, like her momma.
EAT:
Syd usually eats every 3 hours during the day. If she's enjoying her nap, sometimes she'll push it to 4 hours. She's still a pretty efficient eater and gets the job done in around 20 minutes. Lately though, I've had a hard time getting her to continue eating if she gets distracted. Someone talking nearby or a glimpse of the fan can make her start smiling up at me, then it's all over. She usually doesn't eat well after the smiling begins. :) I've had to start taking some herbs, Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle, to up my milk supply. I just haven't had enough to add in one pumping session a day, and since I'm trying to build up a supply for an upcoming wedding in LA, this matter was urgent (momma needs this weekend in LA!). The herbs are working though and I'm finally starting to build up a credible freezer supply. Thank you Google & Midge for your help in this matter.
She consistently goes 7-8 hours at night without feeding. If I time it right and get in one last feeding around 10 or 10:30, then she goes the whole night and we start the day around 6am. This has been amazing and I'm VERY happy with this situation. Just like those little French babies, she's "doing her nights" by 3 months old! Well, most of the time...
PLAY:
We are on a 3 hour E.A.S.Y. plan at the moment, and it is working really well. I keep her awake for 20-40 minutes after eating, then she goes down for a nap. I've found her very easy to read; so far, I can tell when she is ready to nap and when she is on the verge of being overtired. She really enjoys the activity mat and her crib mobile...and I've also hung up a peacock toy above the table that she likes to look at from her infant seat. If I hold her up in front of a mirror, she loves to smile back at that pretty baby she sees. She's very vocal now and is cooing all the time. I've even heard her talking away in the car seat several times. She's such a happy baby. Video from last week: 12 weeks old
Bath time has gotten a lot better; she seems to really enjoy it, and there hasn't been much crying when I lotion her up and put her clothes back on. That was always when she really got upset before; our Syd hates to be cold.Roly poly here weighs 12lbs, 12oz as of this morning! Those size 1 diapers are not going to do the job much longer...
SLEEP:
For naps during the day, she is still sleeping on her tummy in the moses basket...and sometimes she'll nap in the swing. She likes to have the paci in for naps. At night, she is swaddled up in the rock-n-play sleeper in our room. She goes to sleep with the paci in, but it usually falls out pretty quickly and I don't have to put it back in until she starts stirring, which is usually between 4-6am. Like I said in the EAT section above, she's consistently giving me a good 7-8 hour stretch without needing to feed. Keep it up, Syd!
I've procrastinated moving her to her crib at night because she had some congestion for awhile that was affecting her breathing. And it's just easier having her so close by. I do want to put her in her crib this month though to start getting her used to it much earlier than Millie did (7 mos old!). Her congestion is gone and she's doing so well with sleeping, I think she's ready. The real question: is Momma ready?!
Look how far she can lift her chest and upper body!
Dear sweet Sydney,
You melt my heart. You are the sweetest, easiest and most content baby I've ever met. This month has been so fun to see you really start to notice your surroundings and enjoy your play time. You love when we get down to play with you, but you are also perfectly happy to be left alone to enjoy the ceiling fan. You are such an amazing sport with your very handsy big sister and nothing seems to shake you. No amount of ear-piercing screams or eye-jabbing upsets you. I'm very thankful for that because big sister doesn't seem to mind very well yet. ;) I've enjoyed cuddling you in the rocking chair this month when daddy and I relax in the evenings. I don't get much chance to do this during the day, so it has been special to get this time with you at night. I just can't get enough of you, Syd. You are such a joy and so uber-lovable! Baby of mine, you are loved more than you'll ever know.
