We brought some fun party hats, cake pops, & champagne (for the big girls).
Oh my gosh, it was hilarious to watch Syd and Mills. This was their first pedicure EVER and they found everything magical. It was precious.
Somebody has ticklish feet ;)
Later that evening, we got a sitter and took Nana and Tim out to dinner. Super nice to have an adult night out!
We sure do love you, Mom!
Sometimes at my basketball practice, if the weather is too hot, I allow iPads. And other times, I force them to play outside.
Millie and Dylan auditioned for the school dance team...and got on the same squad: Diamond Dance Crew Jewels. Proud of them because they were nervous!
August has been such a great month of celebrations and concerts! The party continues with Flo Rida, TLC, and Nelly!
Watching Amanda sing every word while TLC was on stage was pure gold. I love my friend and her love of R&B.
The girls have been asking us to come eat lunch with them, so one random thursday, we did! Good gravy, it's chaotic and never enough seats and everything is dirty and the girls barely speak to us...but I guess they love it, so we try to go once every few months.
Yet another Barbie package from Carol! Incredible.
One more concert to squeeze in with girlfriends: Smashing Pumpkins! OMG, my 15 year old self died and went to heaven. I loved them all of high school and have never been able to see them live. I actually teared up at one point. So special for me.
Cats and Wine. Wine and Cats. Why would you need anything else??
Syd in this fanny pack is EVERYTHING.
Sometimes before bed, JKK and Millie go down little youtube wormholes...into the worlds of pimple popping, snake bites, tick infestations, booger pulling, and anything disgusting you can think of. Millie calls it "research". ;)
Surviving basketball practice with a few friends
Most of the time, Millie goes to play with her friend Sage - who is in an after-school program.
It's been awhile since I've noticed Syd's coloring skills, but apparently they've come a long way!
Since the girls go to an arts school, there is a lot of time spent in various arts classes (drama, choir, piano, guitar, orchestra, library, computer, dance). Sometimes the teachers hand out little praise sheets for good behavior. Such good girls!
Using a fun bday gift certificate for cryotherapy was interesting! Three minutes is a long time to try and not focus on how cold you are! Apparently it's so good for inflammation and healing though (while burning lots of calories). I thought it was a cool gift idea to experience something new!
Beckham has mastered his back flip!
Do you know what a pikachu looks like? This!
And also this! I adore these little pikachus Syd drew!
Sweet two year old Millie heading to school <3
Now Millie seems so grown up and draws the coolest stuff! We've talked a bit about how fashion designers have to draw their ideas first. Maybe we'll see her on project runway some day!
Good stuff, Mills.
Quick trip to Tulsa over Labor Day weekend: first stop, Mimi time and mexican food!
Then we headed to dad's for a cookout! We were blessed with a Vinny visit while there. 18 mos old is like the cutest age ever. Exhausting, but cute.
Our cousins on my mom's side came to visit too! Syd loved playing with Madison and Emma!
Madison and Emma's grandfather made the girls these super neat signs for their rooms!
More labor day weekend fun at Bradley's for another cookout...it's the American way!
Millie has been pretty much killing it in 3rd grade so far. She's got a great teacher, great friends, and a knack for spelling. She's had really good focus this year and is working very hard. Schoolworkd has never been her favorite thing. Proud of her!
Syd, on the other hand, loves doing her homework. She's getting better at reading and is also working really hard!
This is the home screen of Millie's iPad and it cracks me up every time I see it.
Hmmmm....which one is real??
Chuck E Cheese fundraising night for the school is always a blast. I noticed this time how they only stay over on the big kids side, trying to win as many tickets as possible. Crazy how they used to never step foot over there and only concentrated on the baby rides. They seem so grown up lately!
Recently, the girls stayed the night with Nana before grandparents breakfast at their school. So special that they have at least one grandparent close by to participate! Nana treats them so well.
FINALLY! Time for our maiden voyage in the new camper!
We picked the girls up from school early and made the long trip to Hot Springs! The girls have bunk beds, once again, so they are super happy.
Goodness, it was a hot weekend, so we spent a lot of time at the pool. Some of us used this time to practice their dance skills.
Others used the time to judge the dancing while eating cheetos. (plus me not pictured)
One afternoon, we went into hot springs for lunch at our fave Rolando's. We stumbled upon this 4D adventure place and had such a fun experience! Of course in typical 8 year old fashion, it was ruined when someone kept asking us to buy more and more and more tickets...and wouldn't quit asking...and then started crying. Sigh. We are in that stage where these ages of 6 and 8 are so fun, but boy, they do not know when to quit while they are ahead!
Cheetos do seem to make everything better.
Last stop: the pancake shop! Another hot springs fave made easier by how early we all get up in the mornings. We were there by 7:30am!
The girls took the Barbie RV outside while we were packing up our own camper. I love seeing them play together so sweetly. I would say they play well together 98% of the time. I'll take it!
The second we were home from camping, I made a special bday cake for our favorite guy. The next morning, he went to the gym and we had cake for breakfast when he got home. As you can tell by his shirt, he doesn't mess around at the gym. ;) The girls love celebrating others' birthdays, it's very sweet. They also really love cake. But more than cake, we love YOU, JKK!
The girls made him sweet cards, of course. They can be so thoughtful. Millie originally made the one on the right, but then scrapped it and went with the easier version on the left. I wish she wasn't so critical of her work. The one on the right is so great! I love how she draws her cool haircut and pays attention to details.
Kathy sent this pic of her and JKK at about the same ages as our girls. Loooooook how cuuuuute!
squeeeeeezing her fave Lily is an hourly occurrenceJasper seems to prefer Millie (probably because he doesn't enjoy the squeeze). He gets right in the middle of everything. The other day, Millie said his name should actually be Jas-purrr. She made a funny. Syd didn't get it; she said "well, his name is Jasper".
This shirt is so timely! And so funny. She loves it as much as she loves glamping.
Yesterday, JKK left for a Colorado biking trip with a friend. Also, Syd wasn't feeling good, so she got to stay home with me. She didn't really seem sick, so we spent the day running errands and enjoying our time together. It was like a day date! She picked the tea room for our lunch, and it was perfect! (she actually puts water in her tea cup)
She loves their tomato soup and every time she takes a bite, she moans and makes this face. It was cracking me up and also a little embarrassing. ;)
Some more Millie artwork. I love it all.
self-portrait
Shocking: she wants to be a YouTube-er when she grows up. ;)
#keephopeinyourheart #bestdayever
She's one of a kind, our Millie.
