Robin's Egg Disaster

Need to get this story down in writing...one day I hope we'll laugh instead of gag when we tell it.
This gal is known for her love of food, especially treats.  Last week, she noticed a beautiful bird egg in our yard (Robin's egg, so it was blue and stood out).  Unfortunately, it's an egg that I had seen in the same spot at least a week or two before, so let's just say it wasn't "fresh".  One minute she's playing with Millie, the next I noticed her bending down on the other side of the swing set and when she stood up, she had the worst look on her face and was spitting out the bird egg.  Guess she thought it was candy and popped it into her mouth.  She only chomped on it a few times before figuring out it was most definitely NOT candy.  Poor girl.  I swept her up and ran in the house to wash her mouth out.  You CANNOT imagine the powerful rotten egg smell wafting out of her mouth.  I wretched; I'm sure she did too.  It was sort of an intense moment.  Got her all washed out and she immediately asked to go down for a nap, so I think the whole situation wore her out.  I went back out to pick up the egg and I cannot even describe what was in that egg...complete nightmare.  I then called Poison Control; they said to watch her to make sure she didn't develop flu-like symptoms since we don't know the bird's history...thankfully, she was just fine and never acted sick at all.

It's a story that will live on forever in our family.  Millie has caught on and warned us at my dad's house last week when she spotted a robin's egg shell in the yard.  She also now says that toots smell like rotten eggs. ;)
