Syd's Big Day

Tuesday was a BIG day for Syd!  She woke up knowing it was her birthday.  I walked into her room and sang happy birthday to her, and even though I teared up a little, she was giggling the whole time.  Pretty awesome when they finally get into birthdays as much as I do. ;)

Singing to her; I love this smile.
Make a wish!
She requested her first birthday cake again.  I forgot how time consuming that sucker is...I guess she's worth it!

Cake for breakfast is a favorite tradition
yum
Then we walked outside to this!  A friend of mine started a new business doing yard celebrations...how fun!  The girls loved it!
Syd went to school ALL day, and then I picked her up to head to her party.  Unfortunately, the party dress she picked out was too big and scratchy, so we stopped by Target.  She picked out a pretty darn cute dress that worked perfectly.
This age is funny.  They run so much!  The last three birthday parties she's been too have basically meant running a marathon while chasing each other around.  It looks exhausting, but they love it.
We had her party on the patio of a local pie shop.  It worked out well with the huge field for them to play in, and the parents could lounge in the shade.
The kids had sugar cookies and ice cream, and Syd enjoyed being sung to by her friends!
I like this pic because it shows how Millie responds to daddy love.  She adores him.
Cayden looks good in a hat!
One of Syd's besties, Christian
One of her other besties, McCall
And sweet Addyson rounds out the besties group...this is Syd's crew.  I have loved watching her make friends this year at school and in Little Gym!
Katie & Lachlan
Finley & Mills have been friends since they were one and met in Little Gym!
We had a balloon twister and face painter come to entertain the kids!  It was super fun!  Unfortunately, I sent them to the wrong address, so they were an hour late.  But I don't think the kids noticed.  They all looked so cute!
Beck.  I love this kid.  Funny story: When the party was just getting started, all of the kids were standing around playing outside on the patio.  Then Cayden and Beck bust out holding their presents and Syd takes off running across the field.  It was like Beck's animal instinct kicked in.  A race?!  Okay then...he takes off SPRINTING after Syd trying to give her his present.  Finally, the boys caught her as far as humanly possible across that field, and gave her the presents and then she had to carry them all on her own back across the field.  I don't think she counted on that.  We were dying laughing.  THEN, when it was his turn for face paint, he asked for Red, Orange, and Blue on his arm. Literally, the words: Red, Orange, and Blue.  He cracks me up.

Syd was exhausted.  She's always so tired on school days anyway, especially since she doesn't nap there.  Then to have a two hour game of chase at the party, it was starting to show.  See how painful her smile looks?! ;)  She had a great time though!
Cayden <3
Our neighbor, Audric
His sister, Esme.  Sad I didn't get a pick of brother Asher.  We play with them almost daily.
These two are a feisty pair
Nana love.  So special that she gets to come to these things now that she's local!
Pretty kitty
Syd opted for arm art, rather than face.  Syd does what she wants.  I like it.  It's hard to deal with sometimes, but I like that she has a strong idea of what she wants.
Happy birthday, sweetness!  We loved celebrating you!
