While we were frolicking around the art festival, JKK was riding 100 miles in a Tulsa race! Ack! Way to go, JKK!
Syd still needs her McCall time, so we periodically meet up at a park after school. We still get some super hot days at the end of Sept/first of Oct!
Syd's teacher sent this and commented on how neat her handwriting is! Awesome job, Syd!
For the past few years, I meet up with my RF girls the first weekend of October. This year, we stayed at a gorgeous Arizona resort and spa. Sooo fun and warm and relaxing!
Since I was out of town, JKK got to chaperone Syd's very first field trip! She got to ride a bus to the pumpkin patch! This is her class bestie, Taylor. She's always commenting how Taylor isn't a good minder. Doh!
Syd's very favorite thing every year: the corn "sandbox".When I got back home, the girls were on fall break for a week! It was so nice to be able to come back and hang out with them. Millie's reading has really taken off! Look at her reading Pete the Cat to a cat!
This is Lily's very favorite toy in the whole wide world. We play fetch with it every night.
girlfriend loves to craft
Lily loves to play with people's hair, so if you lay down - beware!
Lion King moment. Syd scared the bejeezus out of me at the Trampoline Park. This is the first time I've seen her grab the trapeze bar! Video: Fall Break Fun at High Rise
Syd pretending to read to her audience. She's getting there, learning the basics. But mostly, she cracks us up acting like she's reading but just telling us what the pictures are doing in the books.
Oh jeez. Fall break also brought a little automobile accident. This was my very first car accident that was my fault (I was involved in another accident in college, but it wasn't my fault). It was super scary and the girls were with me. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it shook us all up a lot.
We had to drive to OKC that afternoon with Nana (she had a dr appt and we tagged along for a fall break adventure), and everyone was super jumpy. Millie kept asking if we were going to get in another wreck. I feel terrible about it all.
Finally, we arrived at the hotel for some rest and relaxation.
Mommy needed extra relaxation
Uncle Bill, aka Ice Cream Bill, came to hang out with us for a bit!
I got to sleep with SydThe next day, this guy came to swim with us!
The girls love playing with Sawyer <3
It was the first cold weekend and we had to break out our winter clothes. I kept doing double-takes with Syd. This is so unlike her! Jeans and a shirt?! I've never seen this. In the past, she's always preferred dresses and leggings. Crazy. She looks so much older to me.
Despite the wreck the day before, we had a wonderful time with Nana. It was fun to get away for a day!
Of course we stopped by Mimi and Pa's on the way home. Dina's doggie was visiting for the weekend, which the girls loved!
We've been lobbying Nana to get a lil doggie of her own ;)oh hai
Video: Syd in Ballet Class The next day, Syd had her first ballet class! I guess she technically was in a dance class two years ago, but she doesn't really remember it and she was too young. This time, she's serious about it. This video is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen!
Tea Party at a local coffee shop to help support a friend who is trying to get these kinds of events started. I had low expectations, but the girls LOVED it! They got to dress up and have a real tea party with their dolls. And they got to add as much sugar as they wanted to their tea. Pretty special.
Our neighbors had a super fun fall party in their backyard, and we all loved it! The girls drank about a gallon of green potion and ate somewhere around 4 cake pops each. Tis the season!Birthday brunch to honor Ms. Amanda!
Post photography session beers and ice cream...and jenga on the porch! Video: Jenga!
Millie's face was cracking me up.
Our annual Amber Lanning pics turned out pretty cute, if I do say so....we took our old Rat Rod for the fun of it!
cute cute cute
flashback fun: me and my bro
another flashback - six years ago! When this facebook memory popped up, I immediately thought how similar her hairdo is to current day ;)
Millie art: I am dance
she's been learning all about different landscapesand emus!
Emu pic is awesome
typical millie art <3
oh piddy - hahahaha Video: Piddy lately
Piddy art: Pete the cat is our favorite!
"I like to go to the park"
Humpty Dumpty - so good, right?!
our kitties and she tried to write their names
Drawing of apples - nice work! Her class made homemade applesauce and she fell in love with cinnamon applesauce.
Welcome to My House...(In Flo Rida voice)
Another glorious fall weekend spent at the pumpkin patch - this one had super fun corn mazes, pumpkin cannons, and a playground. heaven. Video: on the way back from pumpkin patch - silliness!
Look at sweet little Vinny on Papa's shoulders!!
Technology is definitely a part of our everyday lives in 2018. There are so many good learning apps, but JKK and Syd love to swap Candy Crush secrets the most. ;)
Sometimes, we go old school and break out the Twister!
Milestone alert: Syd can hula hoop! And Millie has mastered it around her neck :) Video: hula hoop stars
I wondered when it would happen: Syd finally asked us to come eat lunch with her!
We stayed to eat with Mills and her friends too.
I love these kiddos!
Time for the Fall Carnival at the school!! Syd is an L.O.L. doll (see pic below) and Millie is Cleopatra, aka Egyptian Princess. I love their costumes this year!
LOL doll is about 2 inches high and very popular right now - you can change their clothes and accessories. The girls are hoping for an LOL dollhouse for christmas!
I signed up to work a few booth slots, so JKK was in charge of the girlies. Millie immediately ran off with her friends, so it was just daddy and piddy. I caught this pic of her while I was working the fishing booth!
Millie and Dylan in Harry Potter gear!Millie, Sofia, Avery, and Sage
Ms. Lamp and Mills on the hayride!
It was a lovely night for a carnival. I was stuck working the hayride for a bit, so JKK hopped on with Syd. Good job, daddy-o!
Syd is ALL amped up by this point, since she had a bunch of sugar and found her friend Taylor!spiders in a web. duh.
Since the weather was practically perfect, Amanda and I took the kids on a little adventure to Eureka Springs! We ate lunch downtown...
...then we headed to Turpentine Creek to see the big cats! It was hot!On our way back, we stopped at War Eagle Cavern to do a little gem panning. This was the highlight for the kids!
look at that crystal!
Since it was such nice weather, the next day Millie and Bradley set up a little lemonade and macaron booth. Bradley loves to bake, and he makes quite a bit of cash from these magical little cookies!
Who is this guy on the pink scooter buying up all the cookies?!
Big milestone: we carved our first pumpkin! The girls both took turns getting out the pumpkin guts.Even the cats were super interested.
I think it turned out great! Meow!
Fall field trip with Millie's 2nd grade class to War Eagle Cavern!
Yes, we were just there two days prior, but she didn't care. It was a glorious fall day and we had a great time! We saw a live bat in the cave (and lots of bat poop); we also got to gem pan, go on a nature hike, and have a picnic lunch. Perfect. This age is so easy.
Flashback to 2014 - one of my favorites, Lambie and Doc McStuffins!
The night of Halloween, it was pouring rain, but that didn't stop the Fab Four from getting out there!
umbrellas - check. spiked cider - check.
wet hair, don't care
Cayden LOVES Harry. Makes me so happy.Millie kept eating the candy she would receive at the door before she got to the next house. It got to be a little ridiculous. I stopped her and said you can't eat all of the candy! And with a straight face, she said "isn't that the point of Halloween?!". Touche.
Cowboy Beckham loved his hat, boots, and lasso!
We only made it around the block because we were wet and cold, but they still raked it in!
Syd's favorite part was manning the door. She had the best time handing out candy all on her own!
And guess who has the coolest mom ever?? October is so full of events and just exhausting. The day after halloween, I let the girls play hooky! We lounged all morning and then went to a movie in the afternoon. It was what we all needed, and I loved my time with them. I miss them since they are at school so much. And on the weekends, they often leave us to go play at neighbors houses. It all feels like it's flying by at this point! I'm trying to focus on being present and living in the moment when we do have them home with us. We love you girls...I hope you know how much!
Update: fall school pics are in! Gorgeous smile, Pid!
Millie had a necklace on too, but she said it got broken before picture time. I like that she kept her top button buttoned. ;)
