The last of winter

We met the Cruiks at Fast Lane for our annual bowling night.  Never disappoints.

Momma cut her hair off!  When I picked the girls up from school that afternoon, Syd made sure everyone in the parking lot heard her scream that I had cut my hair.  Yikes!  It's been an adjustment.  

Extremely quick getaway to Colorado to meet B & L for a concert!

Brandon got to fan-boy out seeing his fave band live!  At the Stanley Hotel too!

This picture didn't quite turn out.  Hahaha - we had a great time, despite the trip being cut short to weather delays!

Good morning, it's treat time!

Syd can read! Every night, she reads one of her beginner BOB books to us.  So proud of her!  She even earned a Book It pizza hut coupon!

Mornings for Millie look like this: tucked away in a corner with the iPad, cozy blanket, and breakfast.  She takes longer to get going than Syd.

 At the end of February, JKK and his friends flew to Key West to ride their bikes 100 miles!

He kept sending me pics like this when it was absolutely miserable weather here!

Dr. Seuss day at school is a big deal.  It's basically a party day, with pajamas, and guest readers and special snacks. Sadly, shortly after this pic was sent to me from another mom, the nurse called for me to come get Syd.  Super high fever and sore throat.  Strep throat was confirmed an hour later.

She was so sad to miss all of the activities that day and cried when I picked her up because she didn't want to go.  The cafeteria was serving blue jello with swedish fish at lunchtime, so we had to make her own at home.  It turned out to be pretty gross. ;)  She had plenty of popsicles to make up for it.

I slept with her that night and she seemed to be having trouble breathing.  When her temperature reached 103.5, I took her to the emergency room in the wee hours (it was a saturday).  She looked awful when I took her in...just the saddest.

JKK was still gone on his trip, but Millie was such a super helpful nurse!  Seriously, she is so good at being the empathetic big sister.  I really feel like her calling will be something in the medical field, taking care of people.  She's a natural nurse.  

After many traumatic experiences, including an IV and a cat scan (to check for abscess pockets behind tonsils), she was given some steroids to help her breathe and we were sent home to rest.  Yeesh, poor piddy!  Look, they gave her this sweet bear that also had an IV in his arm...

Haircut for Syd!  She requested we go back to the kid place this time.  Sigh....the haircuts just aren't as good, but she still looks cute.

This monster lost another tooth!  She's so funny about it...it was hanging by almost nothing but she wouldn't pull it.  When she woke up the next morning, it had fallen out during the night.  THAT'S HOW LOOSE IT WAS.  This one doesn't like pain tho.

Family weekend getaway to Missouri!  We stayed the night in hotel for a bit of swimming...

Then went to a little ski area just outside of Kansas City to go snow tubing!

IT WAS SO FUN!!  Syd surprised us by being the first one up the hill each time.  We all had a great time.

And finally these girls got to go sledding.  Well, tubing...close enough.  It was a long drive for two hours of tubing, but I'm glad we went!  Good family time.

On the way home, we happened across a creamery that had fresh ice cream and wine tastings!  Something for everyone...

Finally the weather is starting to warm up!  Everybody is on a set of wheels.  So ready for Spring!

We took the girls to a movie one afternoon, and when I looked over at Syd, mid-movie, she had these glasses on.  I died laughing.  We didn't know she had those with her!
