The rest of May

JKK is so nice to let them do bubble baths sometimes...
First hair appt in awhile!
LOL OMG dolls

beautiful thank you notes, Syd
For Memorial Day weekend, we drove to Dallas and rented an airbnb with Midge and her family!  Since the pandemic is still ongoing, we have to be careful and wear masks in restaurants and stores.  But we really didn't do much of that. We stayed at the house all weekend and ordered food and swam and swam and swam.  It was wonderful!
The pool was key!

My BFF - da Midge
I forced them to take this pic so we can see how they've grown ;)

Puzzles and games and takeout and wine.  Repeat.
Piddy and Midge love each other.
See?  Flashback!
We actually worked this puzzle twice during the weekend.  It was fun to just sit and catchup with each other!

Midge brought some temporary tattoos and Syd was hooked!

More tattoos...more more more

Future waitress doing a good job!

Karaoke/Dance party

underwater camera pics are the best!

These pictures are ridiculous, but Midge documented my face at 40, I suppose?  No hairdryer use necessary that weekend.  Which is my kind of weekend!

Peggy!

A good trip.  So worth it.  Love when the kids are worn out from so much swimming!
This girl didn't get to go this time, which is always sad.  I hate leaving her home alone for so long, even if the petsitter did come by a few times.
That one pink bean...
School catchup - reading with her feet these days

Roblox is still going strong.  I like when they play with each other though, it's cute.
Eating grilled chicken outside on the patio in the rain...cuz why not?!

Syd used her bday money to buy this ice cream truck for her dolls!
Precious babies playing with babies - I love it.

We went a whole week without seeing Hazel and couldn't stand it any longer...
she's grown!
In preparation for Millie's first sleepover in months, we got a blowup pool for the backyard.  It's still a bit risky going to the neighborhood pool with big crowds.  I was scared to take other people's kids there and put them at risk for COVID.  So we made it a party at home!  Lily DID NOT want to swim tho...
It was so adorable seeing these two together again!  Dylan and Mills <3
Video: summer sleepovers.   James got to come for his very first sleepover!  These three are best friends and it was super special to let them sleepover together in our sunroom.
they made some slime

they ate ice cream sammis
Syd went to Nana's for a single sleepover so she wouldn't try to butt in on the sleepover. ;) She was a bit jealous and sad.  I had to FaceTime her to say hi!
Late night art contest!

I think it was a success!  They stayed up until midnight and were up at 6am.  When their parents picked them up, they looked like zombies!
Syd still has some lingering tattoos from Aunt Midge...hilarious.  They surprised Dr Averitt at her dr appt.  Ha!
not letting that pool go to waste
hot stuff
 Video: their best moves
Among all of the pandemic craziness, we've now added race riots to the mix.  There was an incident in Minneapolis where an unarmed black man named George Floyd was killed by a police officer.  The country is absolutely furious in the wake.  We will continue to have conversations with our kids about racism.  There is no excuse.  I understand that I will never understand, but I will continue to learn.  And so will our kids!
