December - Winter Wonderland

Welcome back Juniper and Jasper!

They brought the girls advent calendars and a super sweet book about kindness!

Thoughtful Millie leaving a thank you note to the elves.
On basketball game nights, dad picks up the girls and takes them to dinner.  Bariola's is a favorite because of the arcade room.  Syd won!  She named him mistletoe, of course.
Lily loves the Christmas tree.  She gnaws on it pretty often, leaving a trail of red fluff behind.
Chillin' at Nana's - Syd on my lap
Millie on Nana's lap
When we forget to let kitty in from outside, she pops up at this kitchen window to remind me.  Cracks me up every time.  Sorry Lily!
Family movie night at the theater to watch the new Croods movie.  So fun!
We haven't been able to go to the movies much this year due to COVID, but the theaters need support too!  Plus, they are doing a great job of keeping everyone distanced and everything sanitized.
Another tooth gone for Piddy!
Syd drew Juniper and it's adorable
Sometimes I like to remind her who her real momma is.  I'm pretty sure she likes it, but only for a second.

Christie came to visit!  She's been in Oklahoma taking care of her mother who isn't well.  So we had to keep our masks on so we didn't send back any germs.  Christie made a special mulled wine she learned about in Vienna last year.  It involved setting a sugar cone on fire so that it would drip into the wine.  Fancy!
We bundled up and walked around downtown.
Friends for 25 years!
silly elves
Merry Christ-a-mas!  ;) The girls decorated Nana's house and did a lovely job.  I secretly like when they misspell stuff.  So innocent.
Midge and I competing with pet pics
Sydney H came over for a fun Sunday playdate!  They found they had the same pants, so they tried to match everything else as best they could.  Twinsies!
Time to ice skate!
Unfortunately, Syd K was having a bad shoe day.  She just couldn't handle the skates, so she opted out.  Millie and Syd H had a good time tho!

Pretty girl
All I want for Christmas is my two bottom teeth!
Check out this teepee made from a tortilla!

Not sure where Syd got the idea that she wanted a Santa Doll for Christmas, but it's all she's talked about!
Luckily, our elves are good listeners and brought Syd a Santa...plus an elf and reindeer so that both girls could play.  Millie said this note from the elves looked like my handwriting.  A funny coincidence.
Millie worked hard on this snowman she named Ice - one of her teachers sent me this pic.
Nana's kittens found homes, so she took in another three kitties for a week.  They were a bit older but still snuggly and fun!  Millie liked this one best because he resembles Jasper ;)
Lots of family movie time lately - we loved watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean.  So exciting!  We've been working our way through the Santa Clause series also.
Christmas PJs for the girls and their dolls <3
OMGOMG, it finally snowed!!

And kept snowing!! Terrified it was going to turn back to rain, I raced to get our sleds and go out to play in it!
Trying to find a good hill

Yay!!

She is crazy.

We had a blast sledding...
...and then JKK headed up the making of a snowman.  He grew up with lots of snow, so he's the expert!

Perfect.  And we all helped a little.
Syd noticed his broken smile was like hers with the missing teeth ;)

Afterwards, we came home to watch more movies and chill with some hot chocolate.
Lily kept going outside to check it out
We made our favorite sugar cookies together

And then we all enjoyed them thoroughly

Even Nana braved the snow to come enjoy some cookies and puzzle time!

The next morning, Syd woke up with a bad tummy ache.  I thought it might be too many cookies...
School was cancelled and Millie kept going out to play in the snow!  She convinced a hurting Syd to come out a couple of times.
It's so great that they are old enough to go on their own!
Back to the fort
Someone else enjoyed the fort too
Oh dear.  She continued to get worse and there was some vomiting and fever too.  I called the doctor and took her in thinking she would get a COVID test.  I was really surprised to find out Syd actually had an infection in her appendix.  I had to take her back the next day and thankfully the infection wasn't too bad and her body was doing a good job of fighting it off.  So no antibiotics necessary.  She stayed home from school another day and rested.  I loved having her with me.
Finally ready to go back to school the next day!
My middle school girls won their first conference game!
So much concentration
One last benchmark row at orange theory before I take a break in January.  Had to get on that leaderboard one more time!  I've decided to switch it up to something less intense in 2021.  My poor knee needs something more gentle.
Naughty elf Jasper
It was spirit week and this day's theme was festive hats, masks, and socks!  It's hard to see but they have Christmas masks and Santa socks on!
Ready for winter break after some fun class parties!

Beautiful Syd art
Millie's how to build a snowman essay turned out so cute!

James' bday party, but didn't get a pic with James....whoops
We sure do love our Baggy
