Winter Blahs

The girls enjoy getting money for Christmas so they can go shopping.  Syd naturally picked a Roblox themed play set, since she's obsessed with the Roblox game on her iPad.

Syd is REALLY into drawing lately.  Every day she brings me a different drawing when she gets in the car after school.
Nighttime reading in bed is my fave.
Baggy's fave is nighttime spankings
In January, I drove to Dallas to help celebrate my dear friend Marcy.  She's getting married!
Her little dog Basil might have been the highlight of the weekend
OSU brought us together, and I will always be grateful for their friendship.  Missing Reagan and Skye this weekend...
Well, Syd made the decision to quit Girl Scouts for the time being.  Cookie time was coming, which she doesn't enjoy (and I enjoy it even less).  She said she just likes to make the crafts, but none of the other events.  So I signed her up for art lessons instead, and she's made some really cool stuff!  Look at this beautiful fox!

We have a really great bathtub in this rental house.  Sometimes, you get some judge-y company while bathing...
Makes a massive mess, but they have fun.  Parenting is a lot of just cleaning up messes.  And getting up right when you just sat down.
COVID hit our bubble in mid-January.  Nana and JKK both tested positive, so we had to quarantine for 10 days.  Lots of wine and puzzle time in the beginning.  The girls handled it well.  It just so happened to be JKK's biggest week at work, so we had a lot of time to hang out upstairs being quiet while he was conducting zoom meetings from our kitchen.  The perfect time for afternoon movies.  We saw lots of classics: Jurassic Park, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, The Princess Bride, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, etc.

Look!  Kendyl turned 17!
We had to do virtual school during quarantine, but it wasn't too bad.
Towards the end of quarantine, I started feeling kind of crummy too.  Not bad symptoms, but I did end up losing taste and smell...and a later antibodies test came back positive.  Just not sure whether the girls had it or not.  It's close quarters here, so not sure how they wouldn't have gotten it, but they never showed symptoms.  Thankful all of us had pretty light cases and have survived COVID-19!
Baby sister loved having us all home!

We love walking around our new town!

So close to Crystal Bridges and their great nature trails.

CB also has a really great coffee & wine shop

Syd sleeps so hard
I'm still battling Chronic Idiopathic Uticaria (aka chronic hives)...can't figure out what's causing my flare-ups!  Grrrrr
Still enjoying art lessons.  Still hard on herself.  Both of my girls get upset about their art, at times.  I wish they could see that there is no right or wrong with art.

Mills went with a more abstract dog...cute!
Oh Jaspy...it's been a year without our little buddy.  Millie had the anniversary marked on her calendar and was sad about it all week.
So we decided to have a little memorial for him.  We took a few bunches of flowers, rounded up some friends, and threw the flowers into the pond.  We had a little sparkling juice toast and said kind things about him.  He is truly missed, especially by our big girl.  She shed a few tears, bless her sensitive little heart.

Speaking of sensitive, Syd likes to have a little love ritual with mommy at bedtime.  We turn on her stars and moon nightlight, ask Alexa to play baby beluga, and snuggle on the bed while we hold hands and sing along.  She gets SUPER grumpy if Millie tries to butt in on our time.  I hate that for Mills, but the therapist said we do need to have these little love rituals with the kids separately.  Still, it's hard for Mills to understand.  But oh man, does Syd need it and love it.
Look at our precious bear sleeping with her stuffed Jasper.  I still like checking in on them when sleeping.
The girls love Groundhog Day.  Such hope!  It's been a cold winter this year, so we were all crossing our fingers that he would predict an early spring.  No such luck.  It's hilarious how much stock the girls put into this tradition.  They were so mad at the groundhog that day.

Lily is no help with the puzzles, but she likes to watch.
If it fits, it sits.
She loves to use these hair towels.  Seems like such a grown up thing to do!
Syd in the background made me laugh.
Fashionista!
Well, I tried something new.  I took a swimming class and practiced several times for about a month.  Then I got an ear infection and it was awful.  I liked the pool type of exercise tho, so I'll keep trying (with ear plugs)!
The basketball season ended far too early this year for my girls.  Lots of cancelled games due to covid issues and then the bad weather.  It all just fizzled.  Miss seeing those girls.  This is Jasmine and secretly, she's my fave.
Such a gamer.  Battleship is tough when your opponent can't remember where to keep track of her guesses and my guesses.  Still fun tho!
Hi.
Oh hiiii.
Millie's beautiful art from school art class
Syd's super cool art from school art class
Ohhhhh, someone has a secret admirer!  Baggy got a valentine and some treats...in a baggy!  Hahaha

Nana squeeeeeeze
Baggy bathing daddy, which is one of her fave things to do
New record player has been enjoyed by all!  Carole King on repeat this week.
Hi.
Lately, we've been watching movies on the way to school to distract from bad moods.  School of Rock was hilarious.  The Sandlot was educational.  I can't decide if it's a mom fail to push more screen time or a genius move.  It certainly lightens the mood!

Syd photography
dun dun dunnnn
We had an ice storm!  Stuck at home doing virtual school for a few days...
Millie has been working hard on her presentation of Bessie Coleman - the first black woman pilot
Syd is less enthusiastic about homeschool
ugh.
