End of May/First of June

Poor Millie has been battling a huge wart on her thumb and we've brought in the professionals.  She was brave but not happy about it.

Speaking of skin issues, I'm only putting this in the blog for future Syd.  Just in case her kids have the same issue.  Since she's been a baby, the underside of her toes split.  It really hurts her and it's impossible to heal.  She's often wearing bandaids on her little piggy toes...feel so sorry for her.  Nothing seems to help.
A picture from Millie's teacher.  Not sure what these are about, but something math-related. ;)
Look who got Terrific Kid for the month of May...Millie!!  We had a camping trip planned where we would miss school on Friday, but Mrs. Gibbons told me she was getting the award, so we had to be sly and get her there to receive the award.  She was so surprised and happy about it!  We picked up all of the girls early to head to Devils Den to camp for the weekend...Dylan is our first friend to come along!
Unfortunately, it was a super rainy weekend.  So some of our normal activities weren't possible and it was quite messy, but the kiddos still had fun.
All four of them.  Look at this graceful beast cleaning her toes.
Syd's bed up front
Syd checking out the big girls bed in the loft...always wanting to be a part of whatever they are up to (and always getting shut down)
Dylan and Millie - Millie is soooo tall for her age, I'm always surprised to find how much taller Dylan is!  They had a good time going to the creek and riding bikes in the rain.  Kids don't let the rain stop them.
JKK and I were surprised to find how high the creek was!  So much rain, it was crazy.
Mudpie makin'

I love the campground at Devils Den with it's pine tree forest.  They keep them trimmed up so you can see far, but there is still coverage overhead to provide shade.  And it's pretty.  Hard to see, but Syd is on her bike through the trees so we can see them most of the time or find them easily.

Syd H came out for a day of fun with Piddy - so nice of her mom to drive all the way down to the den and back twice in one day!

practically teenagers these days, they never want the parents around

Our Happy Place
Dylan introduced Millie to a little hammock game called "scrambled eggs"
Hahahaha, scrambled indeed
The Syds prefer to just gently swing

Lily walks are pretty uneventful - she just wants to eat a bunch of grass and stay close to home

They always sleep great when camping!
A full weekend wears our girl out...she still sporadically naps in the car
Oh momma.  Poor Willow.  The kittens are thriving tho!
Mr Pringles
Mr M&M
Game time!
Syd loves to round us up for a game.  Nothing makes her happier.
Never too old for baby dolls at Nana's
multi-tasking before school
The closer it gets to the end of school, the more worn out they are.  Millie has been putting in a lot of extra hours of dance practice.  The end of year recital is coming up!
The arts school always has a showcase for it's arts classes.  It's fun to see the girls show off.  Syd played a whole song for me on the piano!
And Millie's school dance group performed beautifully!  Can you see the red arrows I've added to point out Mills?

We tried to get to Nana's as much as possible to hang with the kittens.  Millie especially loved the kitten quality time...and they loved snuggling up with her.
Farmer's Market fun!  Random Star Wars characters walking around
We still like to get the Fab Four together often also.  Their pool is so great and the kids have been getting along fabulously this year.
George enjoys our visits too, but Mittens prefers to not be picked up.

Oh look, matching besties!
We like to go back to the old hood every once in awhile and hang with the O'Rourkes!

Paul especially loves hosting his friends and somehow managed to get them all in a jersey for some weird reason...he's very persuasive.
Enjoying that downtown life: ice cream on the courthouse steps with Millie's friend, Shaina!
Millie has perfected her dive.
Sydney hasn't perfect her dive, but she does exude joy not matter how she goes in.
Her reading has really taken off!  What a good 2nd grade year she had with Mrs. Lamp!
Ah, the perils of online shopping.  We ordered JKK this patio furniture set for Father's Day.  It came in early and the box had a picture of it on the outside.  So when JKK grabbed the box from our porch, he knew.  We put it together and "surprised" him with it when he came home from work the next day.  A few weeks early, but we have enjoyed it on our bedroom balcony since then!
Millie had to build something to hold an egg and keep it safe when dropped from a building.  She and JKK worked on this little spaceship and it passed the test at home...sadly, not at school tho.  Wah wahhhh
Mrs. Gibbons 4th grade class - Millie had a lot of fun with them this year!
Baby sister has lived on the kitchen balcony this spring.  We can barely get her inside.  Unfortunately, she's getting a bit brave and walking in the gutters, which scares us half to death!
Look at this precious bird and nest that Sydney made in her school art class!
First Friday festival downtown with Sage on a hot night in June!

Millie said the splash pad was for babies.  Turns out, it's not just for babies!  Still works in a pinch!
