Last Week of School

The last week of school is always a doozie!  Exhausting and emotional for all, but lots of fun to be had!  It started off with Millie's dance recital.  She was in four dances!  I adore watching her dance because you can tell SHE ADORES DANCING!  

Look at her joyful face - you can't help but smile watching her!  Not only is she joyful, but she can actually dance well too!

The first part of this hip hop dance was to an Aladdin song, so they tried to have an Arabian themed costume.  It didn't really translate that well; Millie was very unhappy with this costume.

She killed it tho.  Hip hop is her favorite!

Horrible pictures with the dark lighting and constant movement, but you can tell how beautiful these contemporary performances were.  So graceful.  Beautiful choreography and music.

Ahhhhh the best day of the year: fun field day!  This year, the school separated the grades to provide some space.  Syd was up first!

Water play, bounce houses, face painting, unlimited popsicles...the best!  Sidenote: Poor Syd doesn't have the confidence to speak up for herself yet: at lunch, they forgot to give her a hot dog, so she just had chips for lunch.  We talked about how it's okay to ask for something, but she feels like she's a burden.  Sweet girl.  We left school and went straight to Sonic for a hot dog.  

Daddy always calls her "Freshy", so this is the perfect shirt for her!

Last week of school means a pajama day!

And finally, the very last day of 2nd and 4th compared to the very first day.  They've grown taller and their hair is longer!  Teeth have gone missing and grown back in.  Styles and tastes and friends have changed.  It's amazing how much can happen in one school year!

Syd Pid had some great art too.

This report on sloths was so awesome.  Each page has a hand-drawn picture of a different kind of sloth!  I love all of them - great work, Syd!  And as always, such neat handwriting.

I sent this message in blue to Mrs. Lamp after the last day of school, and her reply in purple made me cry.  What a great year it has been for Syd.  For both girls!  Always a relief when they love their teachers and when their teachers really "get them".
