Well my attempt to keep us active during the summer was not very successful. It just gets SO HOT here. Swimming is really the only solution. So here we are at the end of July: there is a new park that opened nearby, so I got us out of the house by 7:15am. We grabbed some bagels and headed to check out the new park. It was scorching by 8am...I could feel the kiddos wilting.
It's more of a nature preserve, so we walked around to check it out. They didn't even want to play on the playground. In fact, Millie abandoned us to head back to the shade.
I thought it was beautiful tho...so many wildflowers!
We scheduled a walk-through at Sydney's new elementary school. They were very nice to let us in and check it out before the Open House. I think it helped with a little of the anxiety. Millie's new middle school is actually connected to Syd's school. They share a library and lunchroom!
My big 5th grader!
Fitting in some last minute playdates with Sawyer! These two play pretend so well...makes me happy to see they aren't growing up too fast.
Unlike this teenager. I can't help thinking of my 5th grade self and just how uncool I was compared to Millie.
Oh no, time for Baggy's vet appt. Since she's always so feisty, the vet had us schedule a time to leave her there for a full day so she could be sedated and get thoroughly checked out.
Well. She checked out fine. The rest of the night was spent laughing at poor Baggy. She was so drugged and wobbly. It was hilarious.
Exhausted. She finally just melted into the couch ;) still makes me laugh thinking about itAhhhh the old hood. We still love to go back and swim with our friends!
Silly Syd
Silly Millie
This summer was unproductive. Not much reading or keeping up with multiplication factors. I really let the ball drop.
This girl has such a sweet heart. As the first day of school approached, she started to get a little sad about leaving her old school and friends.
Annual checkup: brown bear been coming here since day one.
Love our date nights <3
Fun movie night with the O'Rourkes to see Jungle Cruise!!
Checking out the new splash pad and park with Cayden and Beck!
They are growing up so fast! Love these four so much.
We love seeing our groundhogs out our back balcony every summer! They love to eat the vines. Lily really loves to watch them.
Look! Vinny is now an older brother to sweet baby Kendrick!
Syd found Millie's old overall shorts and I could just die how cute she is in them.
One of my greatest joys is carpooling kiddos around. Off to the trampoline park with the Fab Four!
It's such great exercise, I never mind bringing them here. They get REAL sweaty and gross.
Dead. Tired. Just how I like them.
Sno-cones after!
Mom date night: just the two of us went to see the anniversary edition of Thelma and Louise at the Drive-In! Very enjoyable.
We love baby sister. (and the beastie boys)
One little monkey jumping on the bed
Annual night swim at the Cruiks didn't disappointThey have the best backyard!
And the furriest kitties!Classic Amanda
Ahhh so fun!
These are not outdoor cats, but I like to bring them out for a whiff of fresh air every now and then. Mittens is easy to antagonize because he's a bit of a grump.
The party is really taking off now...
Unimpressed.
Oh heyyyyy, it's mommy's birthday! I was craving the strawberry cake of my childhood, so I made one for myself!
I did, indeed, enjoy my trip to the bookstore with Sydney!
I also enjoyed a family lunch at our fave restaurant Table on 6th!
Someone was a bit sleepy from our late night swim the previous evening ;)
As luck would have it, the Bentonville Film Festival was in town and we got to see an outdoor movie on my birthday night!
OMG, it was luck...we were just driving by and saw they were getting ready to start an Indiana Jones movie. We ran home and grabbed some chairs. How perfect. The kids enjoyed it too! There were vendors set up handing out free candy and popcorn. This town is so fun.
Beautiful birthday flowers from Marilyn, John's admin asst.
Sydney likes to ride on a nearby pub track as often as we let her...
Millie and I don't love it. But look at these flowers!Kendyl has been college-shopping in Florida!
The girls and I ran over to Tulsa to see one of my cousins (forgot to take a pic) and our Mimi!
They really get cozy in the car, ha! They still love these blankets Grandma Tricia made the most!
Baby sister and Big sister love each other very much. Millie is so intuitive with animals. She knows when to be gentle and go slow. She knows when to back off.
Back at the Amp for the Black Crowes (great show) with my longtime school friend Randy and his wife!
It isn't summer if the kiddos don't go to at least one imagine studios art camp. This one was Harry Potter themed!
These are pics from the studios social media account. They were supposed to look mad and mean for their mugshots because they are undesirable number one!
Here's a tip: the Bloody Mary's at Tusk and Trotter and insanely good. We've really found our brunch stride living downtown.
Speaking of brunch: this is Millie's treat for fasting and giving blood. She had to return for a cholesterol recheck.
The Crystal Bridges museum grounds are so incredible. Look at these Chihuly sculptures in the forest!
Our KPMG friend Steph came to visit, so we took her on the CB trails and to visit the museum.
The infinity room is always a fave.
Self-portrait station...the girls nailed it.
I love our town!
And JKK...I love JKK.
Baggy hanging out in the gutter again...scaring us.
Family zoom with Mom and B!
Lily has started cozying up to JKK for TV nights.
See? More brunching. We just can't help ourselves. All of our fave places have playgrounds nearby too, so it's fun for the kids to get to run off and play and come back for food whenever they want! Real big kid stuff.
Oh man, the end of an era. My favorite barre/spin studio went out of business and it made me so sad. Like SO sad. That place saved my life when the girls were tiny because it had a daycare area where they could go while I worked out. So I guess you could say it saved the girls' lives too ;)
