9 Months Old...Camilla has now been out as long as she was in...
I tried making a collage in Picasa where you could see her growth, but I'm not happy with the program. It wouldn't let me expand the pics so that you could see each of the monthly signs (hence the numbers up in the corner); the end result is too small to see in the blog anyway. Whatever...you get the idea. I still can't get over that leap from the 1st week to the 1st month pic!
are we done?
oh, okay...then i'm outta hereall she wants to do is stand
Dear Camilla,
This month has been soooo full of new tricks! I've done a pretty good job of blogging about it, but wow...when I go back and read your 8 months post, I can't believe how much you've accomplished in a month! Such a big girl now...and on the move!
You are now officially a crawler, stander, and cruiser. You can go from one position to another in a flash. If you're standing at the ottoman playing and Buddy walks by...shazam, you are down on the floor crawling after him in a split second. Unfortunately, all you want to do is pull his hair and he likes to bite. In fact, tonight, he got you on the arm and left some tiny bite marks. :( Hopefully, you will learn to be gentle with him soon; he's old and cranky, so I don't think he'll be the one changing his behavior. Anyhoo, back to your tricks...you get excited when you make the small step between furnishings. It's very cute, of course, to see you so proud of yourself. You also like to walk around holding on to our hands. No sign of walking on your own yet, but I'm also really trying not to encourage that yet. I have a hard enough time keeping up with you now!
You are still a great eater and still very noisy. This month, you've really enjoyed lots of fresh fruits in your mesh feeder: pineapple, blueberries, mango, and asian pears. I've figured out that you don't like the combination of avocados and bananas for breakfast; it makes you gag. You've been doing great with the chewing motion, and I keep making things chunkier for you. You've now had some puffs (broken up into smaller pieces), and you even try to pick them up off your high chair tray. And here's some big news: I am in the process of weaning you from breastfeeding. This has been your choice, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Kind of sad, I guess. You haven't been interested in breastfeeding for several weeks now, and my body has been taking the cue and producing significantly less milk. It has felt like a very natural process of moving from breast to bottle though, I guess because I feel like I'm letting you decide what you want. You have zero problems with the formula, and heartily gulp down 6-7 oz. bottles twice a day and one 4 oz. bottle at bedtime. I still breastfeed you in the mornings when you wake up. Not sure how much longer that will continue, but I'm fine with this routine for now.
What I'm not fine with is your 5am wake-up call, little miss! This past month has been the most exhausting for us with your sleeping schedule. Mainly because...there is no schedule. You do go to bed very easily every night at 7pm. After that, it is different every night. Some nights, you go all night until 5am...most nights though, you wake up a couple of times between 7-10pm until you really settle down for the night. And then other nights, you throw in a random 2 or 3am waking. Unfortunately, the most consistent waking is around 5am, and then you're done with the crib. I usually end up putting you in bed with us where the next two hours are intervals of nursing and dozing. It still cracks me up to see you standing up in your crib when I go in to pick you up at night or from naps. You just can't help yourself, no matter how sleepy you still are, you just gotta stand! I think your legs have a mind of their own.
I don't think you realize how powerful they are either...those legs can catapult you off my lap or the bed in an instant. Sadly, I realized this the hard way last week when you fell off our bed. :( I should've known better than to leave you alone for even a second. I had you in the middle of the bed in the boppy while I was getting ready in the bathroom; next thing I know, I look over and you are lunging off the bed. It was slow-motion. Thankfully, you rolled and landed horizontally - body and head at the same time. Scared the living daylights out of both of us though. Makes me sad to think about it...no more monkeys jumping on the bed.
We won't know your stats until later this month when we go to your 9 month pediatrician appointment, but I can say without a doubt that you've grown this past month. Your 6-12 month GAP & Old Navy clothes are finally starting to fit, and in Carter's and Circo brands you can wear the 9 Months size. We also just moved up diapers from size 2 pampers swaddlers to size 3 pampers cruisers. We even had to raise the jumperoo up one level.
You are such a sweet, happy baby. I can tell that the Little Gym has been really good for your social skills. You really enjoy going to gym class and interacting with the other kids. And we've seen how you love to interact with Cayden. :) This month has been one of the most exhausting but also probably the most rewarding. I'm just going to assume this sleeping craziness is a phase caused by all of your new physical developments. Let's hope this tenth month brings us all some more sleep!
It's hard to believe that you'll be one year old in just a few months! We love you through and through, Millie Bear...and we are thankful every day that you're ours!
