Aunt Midge Brings the fam to Bville

Aunt Midge brought Kyle and Ryan with her this time!  Let the fun begin...with lunch and drinks at Tusk and Trotter, of course!

It was the end of June, so it was hot!  Taking those kids to the splash pad, like the fun parents we are.

Shaina tagged along too
We had the brilliant idea to get a sitter and book a special dinner in the Sound Lounge of Blake St.  It was so fun!  It was a private room and we got to play all the records we wanted while eating a five-course meal with wine pairings.  Delicious!  The best double date night.
Mmmmm....jkk.
We took Kyle to meet the kittens, and of course he fell in love!  He is a fellow animal-lover and picked out  Pringles as his favorite.
Nana is such a good foster mom
Syd H also came over to make their final decision!  They chose sweet Olive and funny little Popcorn to adopt!
Trying to recreate a picture from my childhood (see second pic for the original). I should've done this when they were a bit smaller.  ;)
Please note that I am actually wearing a cat shirt too.  Pretty sure I was a cat in a former life.
Friday night fun = taking these kids to see the movie Into the Heights at the Drive-In!  Turns out that is a very long movie, which meant a very late night ;)
Give us ALL the concession stand snacks.

Syd always brings a friend.
JKK and I had to take a night off to go to a wedding!  As you can tell from my forehead vein, it was hot.  But it was quite lovely and a great date night.  He looks good in a suit. <3
Nana kept the girls!
We still do!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO OUR FAVORITE GUYS!!  They really are such good, loving dads.  We are so lucky!

Usually we go around the table at dinner and say something nice about the person we are celebrating.  Since we were going to be gone camping with our friends on Father's Day, we decided to write some things down in advance.  There are many things we love and appreciate about our JKK, but here are just ten of the things "we love about dad".
The Devils Den pool is always a treat because we usually don't camp during the months that it is open (June - August).  It's always freezing and the kids love the slides!
Kyle about to head down the chute!  He goes 1000% and my girls can't keep up!
And candy treats from the gift shop help...
Next up: showing Kyle how to jump off the "cliffs" ;)
Aunt Midge bringing the fun
Check him out flying off the rock!  Funny story: he scraped his back on a rock on the way up.  He started whimpering and the adults were on the other side of the creek.  We asked Millie to check out his back...and she let out the biggest gasp and said "oh it's bad!".  Kyle's face was terrified.  He swam over to us and it was just a small scrape and wasn't even bleeding.  Millie!  We had to talk about next time staying calm for the sake of the injured. ;)
Catching fireflies
Eating s'mores
Playing with fire
Riding bikes
Going on a morning hike - we fit a lot into this 24 hours of camping with them!
We showed them one of our favorite trails and it was beautiful!
Midway snack break
Ry.  So kind and chill.  He ran a cool 6 miles after our hike.  In the rain.

Just how every dad wants to end a hike.
This girl loves to camp.
We planned an extended stay at Devils Den for this trip.  Our friends went back to Wisconsin, so it was just us.  I like to make the girls come up to this amphitheater and exercise with me.  It's shaded and peaceful.
Back to the pool!

And look, Syd H came out for an afternoon with us!
Sign of the times: every cool kid has a water bottle with stickers plastered all over it
In the summer, our little fire pit comes in handy for s'mores so that we don't have to make a big fire that puts off a lot of heat!  The girls still insist on s'mores at least once every camping trip.

Room with a view
Dinner outdoors while watching a movie.  We try to enjoy nature and limit technology while camping, but these kiddos are tired.  A little rest time never hurt anyone.
We did force them out on another sweaty hike.  Parenting is hard.  I would have enjoyed this so much more without the kids there whining the whole time.  But they need the exercise too.
See how thrilled they were to be there?!  I admit: it was hot.
JKK on Yellow Rock!
Syd is so cute carrying baby sister back to the house.  Unloading and cleaning the RV is a pain, but it's worth it.  Our week at the den was so great, as usual.  Back to reality...thankfully it's summer break!
First priority when we got back was to finish the puzzle Midge and I started. ;). In honor of Pride month...
