We live in Northwest Arkansas where some years we get a lot of snow and ice, and in other years, we get nothing but just low temperatures. The past two years...nada. This year is supposed to be a doozie though, if you listen to the gossip. Since Monday, everyone in town has been gearing up for a huge winter storm...telling each other to go to the store and making plans for snow days. Well, guess what?! They were right this time! We woke up to about 6-8" in our backyard! I love it for the first day or two...so pretty to look at and it puts me in the mood to bake cookies and make stuff in the crock pot. Both of which I've accomplished in past 24 hours. Then, it sort of sucks because we live in a place that isn't equipped to handle snow and ice...so businesses and schools shut down for days. There was no MDO yesterday. There probably won't be MDO on Monday. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday & then sickness, Millie hasn't gone in 2 weeks. Cabin fever is setting in. I can tell she's bored already, which is making me a little scared about how the next few days are going to go down. Chin up, buttercup...it could be worse. We could be without power
(knock on wood), like a lot of people in the area. So we'll try to make the best of it!
This morning before Millie got up, I showed Syd the snow. She was impressed.
Millie hasn't seen much snow in her lifetime, so she was happy to watch it come down and accumulate. When JKK showed her how much was in our backyard this morning, she asked "where'd the grass go?". I thought that was a pretty good question. While Syd was napping this morning, I took Mills out to play in it. We don't really have snow gear...nothing waterproof anyway. So she only lasted 5 minutes, which was just fine with me. It's freezing out there.
She was so excited! Her favorite show is Little Bear, and recently, she's been asking to re-watch an episode with snowball fights and ice fishing and all sorts of winter activities. I think she was disappointed none of this happened on her adventure outside this morning. Maybe we should buy a sled?!

getting cold and whiny because her mittens wouldn't stay on ;)
first snow play was a success!
In honor of the first snowfall of the year, we also made this little snowman art:
