Millie helped her blow out the candles. Syd was so sweet the entire day; it's like she knew it was a special day and she didn't want to ruin it. To be clear, she's usually a sweet girl, but lately they've been bickering a bit. Not this day though! Everyone was in celebration mode.
Still at the top of Syd's favorites list is cake. Deeeeewicious! She still asks for it almost every day. Just like in this video on a random morning when she climbed up to the table and started demanding cake. The sweet tooth gene is strong in this one. Video: Cake pweeeez
It was great weather to play outside the entire day, which is all the girls want to do (sans shoes).
Our baby is always so happy...sad she's not really a baby anymore, but also kind of excited to move on to fun things for older kids!
Nana was still here for the fun......and Coco and Luc drove out for the day! Yay!
Syd's current favorite things (behind cake): playing outside, playing chase with Millie, Paw Patrol (TV show), wearing shoes, taking walks, anything that Millie is playing with, anything that Millie is doing, hopping...hop hop hop everywhere, snacks of any sort (she'll say "how about a snack?"), playing with baby dolls, cucumbers, green beans, hot dogs, pizza, wearing hats, any fruit (especially strawberries, watermelon, pineapple), riding the head, fruit snacks, singing Let It Go or Baby Beluga, swinging (she wants a big push), cheese sticks, being tickled, carrying multiple purses and backpacks (pronounced pack pack)...we call her the bag lady, galloping, mommy, her pink crocs.
Still loving The Little Gym! She loves to swing on the rings and walk the balance beams...and the air mat is always fun! She loves to yell out "mommy, watch this!". Video: Syd bear walks on the beam
Trying hard to show how old she is...we've been working on holding up her two index fingers ;)
Two-year checkup with pediatrician went well, other than Syd freaking out every time the doctor came near her. She's perfectly healthy...hurray! I want her to show off her verbal and physical skills, but all she does when the doc comes in is cry in my lap. Stats: head 49.5 cm, length 36 inches (97th percentile), weight 32 lbs (95th percentile), BMI 17.4 (75th percentile). She's just a smidge taller than Millie was at 2 years old...I think we're going to have some tall girls! I'm pretty sure she's going to be right-handed, she doesn't have any dimples, she has perfectly chubby lil feet, and she still has a tiny red birthmark on her tummy. She also seems to have sensitive skin and seasonal allergies. Size 5 diapers, Size 7 shoes, Size 2T-3T clothes. She's finally transitioned to cow's milk as of a month ago.
Her communication is pretty amazing, I guess because she's the second child?! She talks in sentences and we understand almost everything she says these days. When we can't understand her, she likes to show us. Millie talks to her non-stop and can get her to do almost anything. In the car the other day, Millie wanted Syd to talk back, so she told Syd to take out her paci. Syd spit it out and started chatting along with Mills. I love watching them together. If Mills is JKK's little duckling, then Syd is Millie's. ;) Dina called them Pete and Repeat, which fits perfectly. You should hear her say Millie's name as "Mi-yee". Adorable.
Piddy is a joyful child, smiling and laughing all the time. Many of the other moms I know have commented on how happy she is when they see her. They don't really see how stubborn she can be though; a true Taurus. This girl can't be rushed. It frustrates Millie to no end when we are trying to take a walk. If Syd isn't in the stroller, she is such a dawdler and throws the biggest fit if you try to pick her up or make her walk faster. She doesn't like to get in trouble and is quick to show you the saddest face on the planet, with a slo-motion turn down of her lips into a super sad frown-y face. It's puss-n-boots sad. She's persistent and likes to give herself pep talks to "keep trying". She's a momma's girl and I'm not really upset about it. She's snuggly and gives great smooches. She is the funniest kid I know, and she makes us laugh every single day. She's the absolute best. Our sweet Syd...I love her more than she'll ever know.
