The girls school start date was pushed back a few weeks, and nobody was mad about the extra bit of summer. Plus, I figured it gave us time to settle into our new house before the madness started back up. Open House was fun to meet the teachers and it was good to have some normal back in our lives!

One last sleepover before the school year begins: the Syds stayed at Syd H.'s house, of course. This picture made me laugh out loud.
Funny story: I actually came back to our old neighborhood that night for book club while these two were at the pool. I didn't tell them I was going to be there, and it was almost like Syd could feel me so close. I saw her turn to watch me drive by and then she ran to the fence to say hi. So funny. We still have a bit of umbilical cord attached. ;)
All while JKK had the big girls at our house for a sleepover! Twinning walking to spark cafe for ice cream. Things are slowly reopening, like the ice cream shop and the playgrounds!
Annual pre-school pedicures for the girls
Oh man, what a fun day this was! My uncle larry and aunt Dina invited us to their lake house for a day on the boat! Abby and boyfriend Ben were there...and Blake too. It was just an incredible day. Sadly, JKK couldn't come because of his back and Nana had to decline because she still had Mimi at her house. The girls and I had a good time tho!
Uncle Larry is just so kind and generous. He is always laughing and happy to host us.
Aunt Dina is the same way. I'm so thankful they are in our lives, and I have great memories of being taken out on their boat when I was little too!
The girls had the best day ever. They told me so many times!
Me and the girls started it off with a bit of tubing. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much.
We got to stop and jump in and swim at times. Very relaxing.
boat hair, don't care
To top it off, we came back for pizza and uncle larry let the girls drive the golf cart around.
They were in heaven!
You sank my battleship!
Millie showing me her current favorite cozy pants. She LIVES for cozy pants!
Oh my gosh, it's finally here: first day of 2nd grade and 4th grade. And a new front door to take pics. Lots of changes, but good ones!
So much relief when I met them after school and both said they had great days! Phew!!
A little chick-fil-a and iPad during my bball practice...lucky girls
Millie submitted this for an assignment and I couldn't help laugh at the weird artwork that made a cameo. The teacher may have some questions ;)
Time to tell Mimi goodbye for now! We grilled chicken legs and played Joker and enjoyed her company so much!
On the way home, we saw the most stunning rainbow! And we could see the whole thing from end to end, which rarely happens. The girls loved it as much as I did.
The sky that night was unreal! Ahhhh summer nights, coming to an end.
Hot moms night out!
Sage sleepover
And Syd playdate
Syd rode bikes to Nana's with me one lovely Sunday. Unfortunately, Foxy took a tumble on the way there, so Nana fashioned a seat belt for the way home. Thank goodness.
our new tub is huge. the girls approve.
Living the Dream. Just like Barbie.
Cheese. Gimme all the cheese. She tells me cheese is her favorite, and I certainly believe it.
Haircut time for this beauty! The hairstylist blow dried it to the other side to make it look like the hair was all one length. It was lovely! But it bothered Millie because it kept getting in her eyes. Then it just downright pissed her off and she got grumpy. This is how it is sometimes, the problem as a parent is that you never know when it will turn sour. Sadly, I had planned a playdate after the haircut at a new cookie place grand opening. Millie pretty much ruined it. How, you are wondering, can this sweet face ruin anything?! I ask myself that same question. Luckily, it doesn't happen often. We are all allowed to have bad days, I suppose.
Picture from teacher of yoga during class. I'm glad they get up and move!
I think we've turned him into a cat person!
Still her favorite toy.
Nana has the girls bday cards hanging up at her house, and I love seeing them. So creative and heartfelt.
Mom and I went to drive-in to see Grease all on our own! It was sure fun.
One of my very favorite things as a parent is when they surprise us with accessories in a public place. Makes me laugh every time.
One last swim at the Cruiks! Never disappoints.
Syd's toetouch is getting so good!
Millie's too!
Oh Ms. Amanda...she's so fun.
Bahahahaha
Millie's fave trick: cartwheel off the diving board. So graceful!
baby sister, baby sister
Now that we are downtown, we are only 5 minutes from Nana! So we've gotten to see her so much more!
flashback to bangs and barrettes
Our street is very political. We are surrounded by Trump and Biden signs and every variation in-between. Mr. Paul gave us this joke sign since Kanye West said he was running for president. Trying to get up the nerve to hang it outside. ;)
Syd's second grade self portrait looks very similar to her first grade self portrait. Lovely.
My favorite part of the day is when they get in the car after school. It's easily the best part of every day. So happy to be reunited!
