Day 8, June 13th: Harry Potter Warner Bros Movie Studio Tour
I am so happy for this day to finally be here!
JKK by one of the huge chess pieces from the first movie The Sorcerer's Stone.
Pickett feeling good to be back with his people
The day was filled with real movie props, sets, costumes, puppets, vehicles and more from the actual Harry Potter movies. Very interesting and wicked cool for my #1 fan heart.
The cupboard under the stairs at Privet Drive!
Syd has a secret crush on Ron Weasley
The Great Hall - this picture doesn't do it justice. It's huge and long and felt like it belonged in Hogwarts.
The costumes from The Goblet of Fire formal dance
The Gryffindor boys dormitory
Wands wands wands
Mirror of Erised - shows the most desperate desire of a person's heart
The entrance to Dumbledore's office guarded by a gargoyle
The tri-wizard tournament cup
Riding a broom through the streets of London (this girl telling me I can't take pics or video, bah!)
Chamber of Secrets Flying Ford car
Professor Dolores Umbridge's office (of my dreams) covered in pink and cat decor
Charity Burbage floating above the table from the 7th movie: Deathly Hallows part 1
Omgeeee it's Buckbeak, the hippogriff!
Mostly seen in the 3rd (my fave book) movie: Prisoner of Azkaban"All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Don't stop and don't be scared you'll crash into it, that's very important. Best do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous." - Mrs. Weasley
Butter Beer time
The Knight Bus
Privet Drive - the whole house!
When Harry became angry with Aunt Marge and she is blown up like a balloon.
The Flying Ford!
Hagrid's motorbike!
Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix
This section was really interesting with the mechanical puppets and how they made all of the creatures work
Hedwig
The Gringott's Goblins
The set of Gringott's was preserved and wow, it was huge and quite fancy. We got to walk down the row of bankers and into the vaults.
This was the coolest part: there was a section of rubble that started shaking and loud noises and footsteps...
...this gigantic dragon comes out and starts spraying fire. It made us all jump! Diagon Alley!
Owl from Eeylops Owl Emporium? Wand from Olivanders? Tricks and treats from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes? The Hogwarts Castle model built to 1:24 scale. This is how they shoot the outdoor aerial shots for the movies! It was gorgeous and so detailed.
Oh Dobby, how we all love you
The grand finale to this wonderful tour was an afternoon tea spread at the Warner Bros cafe. One of the fun surprises for our kids was that "afternoon tea" didn't just include tea when in the United Kingdom. It's basically a tiny feast!
Champagne add-on for the adults was our fun surprise
Syd's most recent acquisition: a niffler. Keep an eye on your shiny things, nifflers like to steal them!
Beck acquired this grand wand. Expeliarmus!
Everything was so delicious and fancy!
Everyone was happy. The perfect ending to a stellar day full of Harry's magic.
And another one! This one was a beauty!
Look at this stunning picture JKK captured of our baby. Some much needed rest time.
While we were away, the director of the humane society where we adopted Guinness was texting me pictures of Moss. A tiny puppy who survived a house fire with one less leg.
Although my heart wasn't ready to move on, we started considering adding him to our family. He had his leg amputated while we were overseas. He looks a little silly with crazy terrier hair. We like silly.
