Day 9, June 14th: our last day in London and we have a super sweet treat planned that included have to dress up a bit!
We walked to the Borough Food Markets, which turned out to be a feast for the eyes! People selling meat, cheese, produce, spritzes...people cooking and bartering and wandering. It was chaotic and full of the locals.
There were food stalls with people cooking in these humongous vats, setting out samples. Millie tried this mushroom risotto and fell in love! It smelled like heaven.
We finally made it to the Shard! It is the tallest building in the UK and Western Europe!
We made reservations for one last afternoon tea at a restaurant near the top of The Shard. It was a Peter Pan themed tea, and it was oh so fun!The desserts came out on this pirate's ship, complete with smoke coming out of it. Fun no matter how old you are...
Amanda and I had the guys take the kiddos back to the hotel, so we could do a little shopping.
We enjoyed our leisurely stroll through Liberty of London this time.
This is the fashion of 2022?! Flashback to Little House on the Prairie. Pass.
Something neat to see in other countries are how they change up the book covers!
The Queen watched over us at our hotel each night. It is enviable how England has such love for their leader. It was quite infectious while over there, seeing her constantly celebrated.
Day 10, June 15th: Headed to the airport bright and early to go home!
This is the life. Our first trip overseas was a success! We probably owe a great deal of that success to having friends for the kids vacation with us. I don't think they would have enjoyed it nearly as much if it had just been our little family of four. We are lucky to have friends that have become family = framily!
Millie always takes comfort to a new level.
I love watching movies on planes. It's like time stops. This documentary of Julia Child was so perfect.
A loooonnnnggggg day.
Reunited with our Lily girl! She had a great vacation herself at Casa de Nana.
I adore JKK's vacation beards. Always sad to see them go. Sometimes he considers leaving a bit ;)
My souvenir was these glasses from Liberty of London. Oooh la la, channeling 1960s London!
