Kyle and Midge come to visit! April is normally much warmer, but our winter was extra long this year. Sadly the weekend they were here, it kept getting colder and colder. We didn't get to do much outside stuff. But we got one afternoon outside and managed to find other things to entertain ourselves! Lots of Yahtzee and Blokus this trip ;)
I took Midge as my date to the annual Girls on the Run Luncheon
Then we took the kiddos to the Amazeum!
Saturday, we headed to the roller skating rink
It was Kyle's first time! He was so determined to get it conquered.
Midge looked like roller girl out there...
It was super chilly out there!
Mean mom made Kyle take off his shirt though. ;)
Coach Kelsey's last day was sad for all of us. She is so patient and uses the kindest voice with the kiddos. I'm always in awe when one of my kids gets a teacher like this - feels like this person has found their calling.
rainbow rainbow rainbow everything!
I bet Syd dreams about rainbows
Jasper is so curious. He's always right in the middle of whatever we are doing. This particular day, Syd is playing the xylophone, and he's right there inches away...apparently not caring at all about the racket!
sunroof fun
The girls use our couches at gymnastics equipment. Video: random couch tricks
Old Maid is the game of the month
We've had such fun with it. This is the face you make when your sister pulls the old maid ;) Sidenote: Millie wore this darth vader shirt at least twice a week this spring.
Preschool Petting Zoo!
brave girlMillie got to try golf for a month! Turns out she's not a fan, but I'm glad she tried it.
Slime Lab with our little friends
Big day: Syd moved up to the big girl skates! And she did great! All the practice has really paid off.
Limbo line with the original Cayden
Sometimes the other Kaedyn comes to skate with us too
School field trip: Community Creative Center
The finished product - one huge coin!
Syd is proud that she can put both of these puzzles together with no help! Time to move up to the next size!
School Field Trip: Devil's Den State ParkThe day before, the kids turned t-shirts into bags to carry around their bird-watching items.
This was one of the best field trips I've been on. So fun and it was perfect outside! We have a lot of memories as a family in Devil's Den.
bird-watching with homemade binoculars
fb memory: where's the poop, Millie?!
Awhile ago, Syd lost an earring. It got pulled out at school, and we had to let it heal. The hole closed back up, and when I finally took her to have it re-pierced, she understandably freaked out. The only way I could get her to agree to it was to let her cut her hair like McCall's. So we chopped off her Barbie locks and now have two earrings again. Kind of made me sad to cut her beautiful hair, but she loves it and that's all that matters!
Another field trip with the 1st graders - this time to the movie theater to see Sgt. Stubby, which was pretty awesome! True story about a dog in WWI.
I love that I get to come to the parties and field trips - thank you, JKK, for making it possible!channeling Janet
One Saturday in April, all the neighborhoods have garage sales. The girls like to get some money and go hunting for kid stuff. Syd picked out these DIY flower crowns, which turned out to be a bit harder than anticipated. But Nana and I made it work!
Millie's garage sale find was a bit larger and wayyyyy toooooo fast. I thought this scooter looked harmless, but I had no idea how fast it goes. Whoops! She's pretty good at it, but we are expecting a broken bone at some point. Sorry in advance, Mills.
spring time means good bird-watchingready to ride when Syd quits whining
The last two weeks of April, Millie was out of school. This year-round schooling has been kind of hard to get used to when the girls have different schedules. We prepared with a list of things to do, since Syd was in school. One afternoon, we took a long bike ride, picked up lunch and met Nana at the park!
never too old for Nana hugs
The Girl Scouts visited a cat shelter, and the girls had a blast!
ducks!
Another afternoon, we met up with friends for High Rise and Chuy's. It's so crazy to remember how chaotic this would've been two years ago. But now it's so easy and awesome!
These three friends have been in preschool together the past two years. McCall, Tate (aka Tater Tot) and Syd - I can picture them being friends forever. I love them so...
party pics
hahahaha
Papa came to visit for the weekend! Easy Riders *beep beep*
For his birthday, I signed us up for a painting workshop!
It was a fun day spent together, just me and my dad.
I struggled the whole day, having never had a painting class in my life. Whereas, my dad whips out this beauty! He had art instruction in high school and has always loved to paint, but think about how long ago that was! He's still got it!
This is now hanging in their kitchen and looks great!
I've named mine Badminton Sunflowers. ;) I'd love to take some real art classes and learn the proper way. Maybe someday..When the weather is nice, we party on the patio.
There is a new restaurant in town called The Porch, that is already becoming our fave place. It's shaded, has a playground, ping pong, bag-o, and wine. Something for all of us.
This has been one of Syd's favorite outfits this spring. It's such an odd choice for her because she only likes to wear dresses. It's possible she thinks the shirt is actually a dress with all of those ruffles and peplum bottom? Cuteness
Time to start the birthday countdown! Lily is helping erase the chalk everyday. And this was the last week Syd wore an overnight diaper. Those are officially gone now! Every great once in awhile, we have someone wet the bed, but 95% of the time everyone is sleeping through the night in this house!
Still on break! Homemade pizzas were fun! We even used whole wheat pizza dough from Whole Foods, and it was still delicious.
On another note: Millie no longer has to wear glasses! I took her to the eye dr for a checkup, and it turns out her astigmatism has almost corrected itself! No wonder she hasn't wanted to wear her glasses lately. She most likely will need glasses in the future for eyesight correction, but as of right now, we can go without. Good news!
Thankful for playdates when we are on break
Syd had to work up the courage to take on the blue slide.
Success!
