Horse Ride!

On May 2, the three of us got to something very special: ride horses!!  This was actually Millie's reward for selling so many girl scout cookies.  When they sell the cookies, the troop gets a small percentage of the money.  Our troop decided to use the money for a fun field trip.  Millie's vote was to ride horses, and the other girls liked the idea.  Unfortunately, the troop went horseback riding on a day when Millie wasn't available.  As a mother, I was a bit disappointed in this outcome.  My child sold the most cookies, and I felt we could've worked together better on a date where everyone could go.  But life isn't fair. ;)  Since this was something she really wanted to experience, I found a different place for us to go ride some horses on our own.  And you know what?! It turned out to be way better!  It far exceeded our expectations, and will be one of those afternoons that I treasure forever.

We went to a place called Flying Q Farms in Fayetteville, and the trail ride was through beautiful Lake Sequoyah State Park.  Meet Lance!
The weather was warm but overcast.  Perfect.
Syd and I got to ride on Lance!  He was so silly!  He was constantly snacking and making us laugh.  At one point, we had to cross a rushing stream, and when we stopped to let the horses drink, Lance kept pawing the water and getting us all wet!  The girls were dying laughing.
Millie got to ride on Al!
It was a truly beautiful ride
We had three women and two girl dogs join us on our ride.  All girls on this ride! When we crossed the stream, the little dog Zoe had to ride on a horse with someone.  Then she jumped from horse to horse when we got on dry land.  Millie thought it was pretty cool!  What a neat little dog.
Funny story: near the end of the ride, they let Millie's lead go and she was able to ride back to the barn all on her own.  Her horse Al was extremely calm and possibly asleep with his eyes open the whole ride.  Once they let the lead go, he felt the freedom and found his energy; he started hoofing it back to the barn, which was uphill.  The effort was too much and caused some extremely loud gas to be emitted, which ended up spooking the other horses.  Lance jumped a mile high.  Millie could not contain her laughter.  We were all dying.  Poor Al, all of us laughing at his expense.  Here's a video shortly after...what a special day it was with my girls. <3
Hey look, 3 years ago was Millie's very first horse ride!  Those cheeks kill me.
