Sydney turns SIX

Our Piddy is S-I-X!!  Since her birthday fell on a Thursday this year, we had to forego our cake for breakfast tradition.  JKK always has a super early meeting on Thursdays.  So instead, we had some bday donuts!  She didn't seem to care at all.  I love her smile here - totally genuine.

This year it's all about unicorns!!
Once she was dressed for school, I did make her take some bday pics with the cake - even though we couldn't eat it yet. ;)  Torture!
Our neighbor, Stephanie, made the beautiful cake for us.  When Syd requested a unicorn cake, I knew I was out of my element.

She's grown about 1.5 inches in the last 6 months! Update: at 6 year pediatrician appt in June, she was 47" (75th percentile) and 55 lbs (90th percentile).
She's so funny!

She was a little disappointed I made her go to school, but I didn't want her to miss out on feeling special at school.  She handed out unicorn-themed goody bags to her class and got to pick a special present from her teacher.  I knew she wouldn't want to miss that stuff!  I'm pretty sure her bestie, Sawyer, made a big deal out of her all day too!  After school, we went to Build-a-Bear for her party!
Syd chose to have a small group of her best friends for her party this year.  She isn't one to love the spotlight, so this kind of intimate party was perfect for her.  Even McCall came!!
They all had a lot of fun shopping for their bears and ALL the things.  Sawyer's mom took some great pics for me and happened to capture the essence of the "heart ceremony".  It was pretty cute.  Everyone made wishes for these little hearts and put them all inside Syd's bear.  Felt kind of silly at the time, but I love this picture.  This age is so sweet and tender.
School besties: Syd, Sawyer, and Sabrina

Everyone built the bear (or unicorn) of their dreams!  Sabrina, Sawyer, Syd, McCall, Millie, and Sydney H - sweet girls <3
Then we headed across the street for Yum Yo's ice cream!
At this point in the day, Syd is worn out...but WAIT...the party's not over yet!  Some friends came over to share the cake and have pizza on the driveway!

Gang goals.  And then guess what happened?!  The ice cream truck drove by and how could we say no??  SO. MUCH. SUGAR.  Definitely worth it when Syd said it was the "best birthday ever".  She had the most amazing day!
Six is going to be awesome!
Happy birthday to my baby...I LOVE that she's still more than a little attached to me.  She is one thoughtful and generous girl.  She loves to give gifts and make things for others.  She is super crafty and her happy place is with arts and crafts.  She's a good helper to her friends and teachers.  She's funny and loves making others laugh - she's become quite the jokester!  She is amazing at entertaining herself - great imagination.  She has a beautiful smile and gives the best hugs.  She can be emotional at home and seems to have a few sensory issues with her body that bug her (like itchy feet), but she does a great job of keeping it together at school!  Proud of her!
Jasper helped me decorate the dining room and get my camera ready. ;)  He likes to be right in the middle of everything.
Lily was skeptical, as usual.
