It's October which means MORE CAMPING! We decided to venture a little further into Arkansas this time. Normally, we love to go nearby to Devils Den - only a 45 minute drive. But we've heard such good things about the beauty of ALL of Arkansas, so we need to start experiencing more of it. Petit Jean State Park is a 3.5 hour drive, and the girls did great, especially our Lil-Bag.
She loves to play cards with us!The weather was pretty chilly, but that didn't stop the bike rides!
Lots of chilling this trip, which is just what we needed. I finished a lovely book - my favorite kind of downtime. JKK got to smoke some cigars in the great outdoors - his favorite kind of downtime. The girls put the iPads down for the weekend and played outside - the BEST kind of downtime for them.
Lily got real brave this trip and we kept having to find her and put her back in the RV.
Cristal at the campsite = glamping
I love this pic! The spent a TON of time playing in the hammock that weekend. There may have been a few injuries from falling out...
Saturday we decided to do the big hike and stopped at the lookouts on the way to the trailhead. It's really lovely here in the middle of the state!
We warned the girls it was going to be a big hike: 4.5 miles! We took a picnic lunch, lots of snacks and water (and Busch light apple...mmmmm), and we headed out into the gorgeous Seven Hollows Trail.
These are some really cool rocks that look like the shells of a bunch of turtles...which is why they are called the Turtle Rocks!
Natural Bridge!
Worn out at halfway point - a picnic lunch never tastes better than when it is earned!
We took lots of breaks...the last mile there were a few breakdowns...
Syd and those binoculars....hilarious
WE DID IT!! I know they were proud of themselves. The best day!
Time to go back to the camper for dinner
That night we watched E.T. as a family, and it was pretty special. I still love that movie. The girls loved it too. So sweet. ET Phone Home!
Cool tricks, cool tricks
The next morning, we went to check out the tiny Bear Cave trail - it's only about 0.5 miles. Still pretty neat!
And then we headed home. A great trip, so glad we gave this place a shot!
