November Thankfulness

She looks so grown up here!

Had to do a double take with this picture - looks like we are back in Creekwood house with our old table.  It's Nana's table now, and the girls enjoy feeding their babies at it.
Look at this multi-tasking mom!
Oooh la la, look at Nana circa 1975 by Keystone Lake
Don't let her face fool you, this is her happy place
Syd's decorated pumpkins helped spice up our front porch this year - she's such a good little crafter
cool tricks, cool tricks
Why does age 9 already feel like a teenager?  Tween, I suppose, is the correct word.  And for good reason.  Her emotions have been more roller-coaster-y, her body has been experiencing changes, and her attitude is also different.  You can just tell how much little sister or her parents gets on her nerves sometimes.  But then we get a glimpse of our old Millie in there and feel relieved.  Our sweet brown bear is growing up.

The warm weather came back for a few weeks and we didn't let it go to waste!
Red alert: Aunt Midge in da (new) house!  She flew in for a quick weekend of togetherness and it was pretty great!
Friday night, we got the old KPMG crew together for happy hour
That Tulsa office taught us many things, including that happy hour doesn't have to be just one hour. ;)
puzzle time refuels us
brunch date - taking advantage while Nana still had the girls
And the girls were not unhappy to be with Nana while she was picking out her new foster kittens!!  Aughhhhhhh!!  What a great way to give back.
Dad of the year goes to JKK - he took the girls to stay at a hotel Saturday night to give Midge and I some time to hang alone.  Again...the girls the were not sad about getting to swim at the hotel and eat junk food.
Date Night!
hahaha
The next day, heading to Nana's to SEE THOSE KITTENS!!
Flashback to five years ago in the beach house!!  awwwwwwwww
The girls got to help Nana name them: this black one is Otis Redding (goes by just Otis)
The two little gray ones are Courtney Love (just Love or Lovey) and John Denver (just Denver unless he's in trouble).
The girls stayed there all day getting their fill
Such a good cat mom <3
Left those girls at Nana's and took Midge to see our future neighborhood and build site.
And of course, one more brunch date with my purse-holding man.
Lily was so funny about Midge the whole weekend...she was fine with her, until all of a sudden she wasn't. Lots of hissing.  Random hissing.  One last pic of these two put the nail in the coffin.
Oh man, when Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name comes on, these two go bananas!
shot through the heart!
and you're to blame!
Fall Picture Day for my beauties
Sometimes while the girls are at school, I sneak over to Nana's for a quick kitty therapy sesh
Basketball season in full swing now - lots of games and practices.  I have to sweep the gym after school, and the girls take turns walking with me and telling me about their day.  I can't tell you how much I love it.
We still have bad mornings when it comes to Syd and getting dressed.  This morning was particularly bad and in a stroke of genius, I grabbed Lily to lighten up the mood on the way to school.  It worked!  The girls loved it, but poor Lily probably thought she was going to the vet.
Since the weather has turned colder, she can't go out on the balcony as much.  I've started turning on YouTube videos for her that are made specifically for cats - birds and squirrels and chipmunk footage.  So funny!
Oh heyyyyyy, you're looking at the new Chief Financial Officer for JB Hunt!  JKK got a promotion and we are so happy for him!  He's such a hard worker, and I often talk to the girls about how hard he works for our family.  We are so thankful for the life we have, thanks to this guy.
I took him to celebrate at Ruth's Chris. <3  Date nights are few and far between these days with the pandemic, so it was really great to be out, just the two of us.
Millie has such a neat drawing style.  She's decorated her room in these little pictures...kind of like graphic novel characters, which is the type of book she loves most.
Syd earned this little stuffed monkey at school and nothing makes Syd happier than adding to her stuff animal collection.  It's getting a bit out of hand, actually.
After school bubble tea treat!
Syd H. turns NINE with a slime studio party!

Flashback to Syd H.'s party just two years ago - look at dem babies
Syd K got a sleepover with Syd H, so Millie got a sleepover with Nana and the kittens
One lovely Saturday evening in November, we invited the Cruiks over for dinner and games.  So glad we did!
We now have to go to Nana's for kitten love as often as possible.  It's nice to see Nana more often!
Girl Scout memorial gardens clean up day was chilly, but Syd loved it!  Check out these wind chimes
Syd is funny about the troop - she doesn't really talk to the girls very often.  But she always has a good time and says she loves Girl Scouts.
Hey look at me!
This little chick is 7.5 years old!

Christmas Card time! My fave...
feeling her new boots
adding Lily to the carpool schedule regularly
Oh my goodness, flashback to 2013 Piddy Poundcake juiciness
Our little town square is pretty adorable
We've watched them stringing these lights for the last couple of months.  Looks festive!
one of our fave songs
turkey time
I'm not sure why age seven for Syd has really kicked the stuffed animal collection into overdrive, but now we get in trouble if we cover one of them up or leave one in the car all alone.

it's a bit much
Last Saturday, we took a family walk and accidentally stumbled onto opening day of the ice skating rink!  I have a feeling we will be here a lot over the next month.  It's a bit trickier than roller skating, but we are determined to get it down!

Oh hi.
Family painting project, courtesy of Syd's Girl Scout troop!  The four of us sat down to watch a how-to Youtube video.  It was a bit tough at times - some family members got angry at their own skills - but we all ended up finishing with beautiful results!

Back at the rink for more
Syd is thankful I make breakfast in the morning and thankful for daddy going to work for money
Trying to teach them to give back - we adopted an angel tree girl, age 11, to shop for this year!  Millie was really into it! Syd ended up getting a bit upset that she didn't get anything.  A good lesson!
Still a bit grumpy after the shopping trip
Our little artist was assigned several thanksgiving themed drawings - well done Mills!

Guess what?!  Nana added a fourth kitten to the mix.  It was a littermate that needed sibling time.  We've named her Miley Cyrus and she's fitting right in!  Actually, 3 out of the 4 have adoption applications already and the two girls are going to the same home!
we've enjoyed them so much

another day, another YouTube video for Baggy
