Time to pick out Halloween costumes! Syd makes me laugh. She got on the costume website and picked out the warmest costume she could find....full body coverage was the only reason she picked this. But look how perfect it is! (It's actually a character from a Nintendo game called plants vs zombies.)
Syd was at a playdate, so I took Millie shopping at the big girl stores. These days, we mostly online shop, so it was fun to actually see her pick stuff out and try it on at a store! She's pretty much a teenager these days.
Look at our boy! All grown up and heading out on internship interviewsStill enjoying the patio weather and dog-watching!
Fall Break is here and the Syds hit up the Tulsa Zoo to see the new baby tiger. Can you see it sleeping behind them??
Never too old
Since these kids are on screens so much, I got them some blue light glasses to protect their eyes. Millie looks precious in them!
Dropped our bags off and went exploring while Heath did a little work in the hotel. The weather was fantastic and our goal was to find ALL the bookstores.
I made her do this ;)
The famous lions in front of the library! JKK wasn't sad to miss this portion of the vacay
There was the best exhibit inside of oddities and curiosities. Look who I found: the original Pooh gang!
This is Charles Dickens's cat's paw turned into a paper knife. A tribute to a beloved pet that is giving me some good ideas...so weird, I love it.
I love this picture of our little enneagram 7 - HBD ARC! This restaurant Il Mulino was to die for. My fave of the trip!
Always miss the girls when we are away! I know Nana takes great care of them and they love spending time there...but it's always hard to be away.
Oh man, Central Park in the early morning is just plain gorgeous and empty. It's a bit mind-boggling that this is the city's green space. Later in the day, there wasn't an open spot it was so crowded. Hard for us middle Americans to wrap our minds around!
A trip highlight: visiting the Harry Potter store! I got to stand in Hagrid's shoes!
Oh look! Mrs. Cruikshank holding Hermione's cat Cruikshanks!
My first butter beer (reminds me of cream soda from my childhood)
Meanwhile back home, the girls are getting in the Halloween spirit
FINALLY MY GUY ARRIVES! The reunion was such a relief...always better when he is with me.
Girls! It's the famous Plaza Hotel that the Home Alone kid stays in!
We were lucky enough to get high tea reservations and it was such a fun experience! So fancy. We also visited the Plaza Champagne Bar, ooh la la!
pinky out
I'd love to bring the girls some day and get all dressed up for a day in NYC!
Meanwhile back home....Syd IS all dressed up and walking her cat in the backyard wearing some high boots and a shawl, while writing something down. Interesting.
MOMA time!
Ermagherd! Can't believe I get to see A Starry Night in person!!This one made my day: Christina's World. I love the Wyeth family's art.
Lots of things to see/do/eat/ogle/process...it's a stimulating city!
We walked and walked. It's incredible to see how people live in such a big city. We rode the subway too!
Fall is so fun!
So sweet, Syd
Another highlight: visiting the Milk Bar bakery. This is the place that invented our special birthday cake!Classic Amanda. When in NYC, gotta visit a steakhouse! Gallagher's it is...
Headed home, but had to fit in some NY style pizza! Such a full/fun trip!
Our little model showing off her souvenir <3
