One Year Dr Appt

Yesterday was Millie's one-year pediatrician appt, and here are the stats:  weight 19 lbs 13 oz (25th percentile), length 30 inches (75th percentile), head 18 inches (70th percentile).  I guess she has a larger than average head, which surprises me because I've always felt like it was on the small side.  It looks perfect and proportionate though. ;)
She received a few more vaccines, but she hardly cried at all.  Such a tough girl!  Notice the band-aid on her toe where they drew a little blood.  She very much enjoyed getting on and off of this seal chair (& bouncing up and down on it too).  I think we're going to have to get a Rody soon! Rody the horse
This week, Millie's new big girl chair came in from PBK.  This one is bigger and will stay downstairs.  I put it together after she had gone to bed, so the next morning when we came downstairs, she had to get in it immediately.  This is literally five minutes after waking up...zombie stare.
She played in that thing all day...

...even had snacktime in it.
Millie is now full-on running!  We had a good few months without too many falls, but now that she's trying to run, we've had plenty of bumps and bruises lately.  She has a huge raw strawberry on her forehead now from the sidewalk. :(
cute new iphone app called Diptic creates collages...thanks Lacy! ;)
P.S. - we know these shoes are not cute...they look sort of like water shoes combined with orthopedic shoes.  Weird.  Anyhoo, her feet are too small for crocs, but we needed something airy to put on her for outdoor play.  Sorry Mills...function won out over fashion this time (not that crocs are fashionable).

Phew! What a week...

This week has been an exhausting one.  Five days of swim lessons in 100 degree heat really takes it out of ya.  Millie really impressed me with how she dealt with this week though.  I was nervous because she is such a sensitive little being...new environments, people, and activities overwhelm her.  However, she did fantastic and seemed to have a lot of fun in the pool.  She also really enjoyed the cookie jar at the end of class. ;)

Friday, JKK came to swim lessons for the final day, while I sat out and took pics/video.

We also had fun with our Little Gym friends, Tracey and Grey, attending the same swim class.
Millie's certificate of completion!  I guess I'm going to need to start a scrapbook for these sorts of things...
Also this week, we had some A/C guys come out for some preventative maintenance, which turned into 24 hours without A/C.   I don't know the details...some fan they replaced busted...whatever.  It was a fiasco, and the guys kept having to come back out.  This meant that Friday, when the NWA temp was well over 100, our house was like an oven.  Other than time out for swim lessons, Millie and I spent the rest of the day in the sunroom.  Thank goodness it has its own heating/cooling system.  What it doesn't have yet is shades...so no nap for Mills.  She was in great spirits though and had a lot of fun playing in the new room.  Here's some video of her trying to sit in her chair out in the sunroom...we were hot, so forgive the lack of clothes.  Video: Have a seat, Millie!

Goose-watching:  you can't see the geese, but they are on the other side of that black fence...
Millie is super funny right now...I just imagine that this next year is going to be so fun to be a part of.  I'm constantly taking video to try and catch all of her silliness.
Video: Buddy chasing his tail = hilarious

JKK and Millie really have a lot of fun with this car...
Video: zoom zoom in the car

I've been very pleasantly surprised at her willingness to eat new stuff.  Being able to pick up finger foods has opened up a whole new world to us.  Cheerios are everywhere.  She can't get enough of fresh peaches and cantaloupe.  She'll feed herself turkey lunchmeat, beef ravioli, cooked carrots, avocado, whole wheat bagel, and pretty much any fruit (except watermelon).  She drinks tons of water out of her sippy cup.  I hope her openness with food continues!  However, if I don't watch how much I put on the tray, she'll shovel it all in hamster-style.  She's just recently learned how to stick out her tongue, so I used that to my advantage tonight. ;)
Video: too much cantaloupe
We did manage to fit in a playdate with Cayden this week.  These two are just the silliest together.

not sure why the car seat was so interesting to them

This morning, after a night of glorious air-conditioned sleep, we went to the farmer's market to stock up on more cantaloupe and peaches for our girl.

There was a lot packed into this week!  Next week is her one-year pediatrician appt...looking forward to hearing her stats. ;)

Business as Usual

We had our week of laziness, and now we are back in the swing of things.  JKK has a busy month at work, while also trying to meet and deal with all of the contractors on our home projects.  I'm also trying to get some work done at night after Millie is in bed.  And little miss Bear is taking swim lessons every day this week!  We don't expect her to be able to swim just yet, but the water babies class is more about safety: how to get out of the pool if she falls in, the beginnings of the dog paddle, how to float, etc.  It has been so fun and exhausting at the same time. ;)  The first day she had the pacifier in the whole time and was very quiet...just taking it all in.  But by the second day, she didn't need the bink and was making all sorts of noise.  I think she's really enjoying it!  And just like her father, no amount of sunscreen is preventing a fabulous tan.  Her little legs are nut brown and gorgeous.  Momma is jealous.

her swim buoy makes her look like a little turtle
last weekend, we finally made it to the farmer's market...can't believe it has taken us so long to do that this year.  it's been great to have fresh produce to make me cook more this week, so we're headed back this weekend!
we bought a cantaloupe and some peaches at the market, and millie has devoured them all!

usually, Mills is up by 6am every morning.  toooo early for me.  some days, we make it out of the house to go walking before 7am.  she likes to stop for swing time.
yawn...like i said, it's early...

Party Pics

More party pics: some are Brandon's, some mine...try not to notice the difference ;)  Our sunroom was usable for the party, but not quite finished (ignore the plywood floor).  Still though, it was so nice to be able to use it for the festivities...can't wait until it is finished.

Thanks again to everyone who came to Camilla's first birthday party; it was such a special day!
