Millie's Golden Birthday

Millie Bear turned SIX on the SIXTH of July!  Oh how I love this sweet face <3

Unicorns rule!  I didn't make her bday cake this year because I just knew she'd love this unicorn cake. And she did!  It was actually quite delicious.

Cake for breakfast, of course.  And lunch and dinner...

SIX!  All she wanted was some roller skates, and she was SO happy we delivered.

It took awhile, but she's got the hang of it now.  She's on her skates most of the time in our house these days.  Maybe we can get her a job at Sonic!

That afternoon, we had a pool party and a ton of her friends showed up!  It was so fun for Mills!!  Shocking side note:  I didn't take very many pics at the party and I didn't make everyone sing happy birthday to her or even line up for a group pic.  I was going for low-key, but now I'm sad I don't have a group pic.  Sorry Mills!

In 5 short years, she went from never leaving my side to never looking my way at the party. ;)  I love her independence, but it's certainly bittersweet.  Happy 6th Birthday, Millie Bear!  

Fourth of July weekend

Cayden and Beckham have birthdays just a couple of weeks apart, and guess what they got??  KITTIES!!!  So we had to go see them immediately.

We did a few of our own fireworks at home again this year.  We've moved up from tanks and chickens.

Remember that yard sign that Syd got for her bday surprise?  Well they were booked for Millie's bday, so she got a special early bday surprise: mermaid tails!  Syd sort of just floats around with hers, but Millie swims like a real mermaid.  It looks exhausting.  She's so good at it though!

On the actual fourth of July, it poured for hours.  We had a little garage party and let the girls play in the rain.  It was actually quite fun!

The weather cleared up, we geared up, and headed to the ballpark!

I have always liked dressing them in red white and blue on the fourth....remember this one?!

The girls weren't into the baseball game, but they were interested in the big fireworks show at the end.  This is their first fireworks show! 

Some of us were running on fumes, since it was hours past their bedtime.

Piddy barely hung on, but we did it!  This has been a big summer for finally being able to do some big kid stuff.  Feels like it took forever to get here.  And they still can't really make it much past 9pm, but we'll take it!

Father's Day Fun

Happy father's day to our main man!  The best snuggler/wrestler/wallower there ever was.

Super dad cake for a super dad!

It was a full day:  First we went to the movies and played in the arcade.

Then we saw Captain Underpants!  Tra-la-la-laaaaa

It was a gorgeous day (meaning not too hot), so we decided to try mini golf for the first time.  Millie LOVED it!  And she was actually quite good at it.

Syd tried for a bit (her form cracked us up), but then ended up prancing around and didn't want to play golf anymore.  She much preferred climbing on all of the structures that have NO CLIMBING signs posted.

Daddy finally got to open Syd's father's day present she made him in school!  She was so excited!!!

Sometimes daddy steals Millie's bike to do tricks and zoom around.  Millie likes to watch.

We've moved on to reading Chapter books with Millie at night.  Syd's not great at paying attention, but Millie loves it!  Daddy is the best reader and the best putter-to-bedder.  He listens to what they say.  He is patient and fun and adventurous.  He makes the car go fast down hills so it gets their tummy.  He brings a lightness into the house.  We are so happy he's ours!

Last weekend, I got to see my dad for an early morning breakfast on his patio.  One of my favorite things in the world!  He is such good company (and Tricia too, of course).  We love you too, Papa!!
