Birthday Festivities

On Millie's actual birthday, we took her glow bowling!  She had a great time dancing around and singing.  She looked very FIVE.
Syd also loved it!
Nanny brought Mills a super cool rockstar outfit, complete with leopard glasses that she didn't take off all evening.

The bowling place also has an arcade and a few rides.  We rode a roller coaster and himalaya ride.  Super fun!
Then we came home for cake picnic on the front lawn and Syd took a pretty bad scooter spill on the sidewalk.  It was a sad ending to a great day.
Practicing her rockstar style
Birthday party day for the Fab Four!!  Went out back into the July heat, and my camera immediately fogged up. ;)

Fab Four!!  This is probably our last year to do the bday party together, since they are growing up...but man, it was fun while it lasted!!
This year, they chose the trampoline park!

Fun seeing sweet friends from school she has missed this summer!

The cake cups were delicious!

Today, we delivered the pet supplies to the local humane society.  Pretty sure the kids still aren't sure this is better than receiving gifts at their party, but at least the parents feel it is a worthy cause.  We all love snuggling the kitties and playing with the puppies!
Syd says Santa is going to bring her a kitty, yet she was too scared to hold one today.  The other three loved it though!
Thankfully, Cayden and Beckham are going to get kitties when they return to the US, so we'll have some to play with soon!

Happy 5th Birthday, Millie!

Millie Marie turned FIVE years old on July 6th!!  Bananas.  How time flies...here's proof in her 5th birthday montage video  and here's her {always insightful} 5th birthday interview video
Some of my favorite answers:
Favorite animal: lions (have never heard this one before)
     Favorite book: Pete the cat
Favorite thing to do with mommy: hugs
Favorite thing to do with daddy: play fight
Favorite thing to do with Syd: kiss & hug...play barbies
Favorite places to go: chips place, Chuck E Cheese
What will you be when you grow up: candy server.  This cracks me up every time (she's been saying it for awhile).  She wants to own her own candy store, pretty much become Willy Wonka!
She's a girly tomboy, if there is such a thing.  She wanted a two-piece swimsuit, yet she spends most of her time doing cannonballs (although, I guess she DOES love handstands in the pool too).  She loves riding bikes in her princess gowns.  She walks around the house in heels and jewelry playing pretend, but when it's time to actually go somewhere, she could care less what she's wearing as long as it's comfortable.  She wants nothing to do with pants or jeans that snap and zip - elastic only, please!  I guess I would call her style: casual comfortable chic. ;)  She wants her ears pierced, but she's afraid to get a "shot" in her ear.  She won't be the one making a sacrifice for fashion.
She's been sitting down and looking through books a lot on her own; I think she's ready to read!  She's excited, yet nervous, to start kindergarten in August.  She's independent, observant, cautious until she's checked things out thoroughly.  She's sensitive and snuggly.  A great eater, lover of treats, and great at bossing Syd around and playing pretend with her.  She loves playing with babies.  She's a bit sassy, but I would say she's a good girl and won't be the ring leader when it comes to treating others badly.  Athletic and fun to watch dominate bikes, gymnastics, swimming, and other physical feats.  Giggly and silly and can play with others well.  Talks wayyy too much about poop and toots and butts (I thought that was a boy thing??).  She can't stand to be hot (she gets all panicky, like me)!
FIVE = one whole hand!
Other than birthday cake, her favorite foods are: baked beans, chips place (Chuy's), chicken noodle soup, vegetables (green beans, broccoli, romaine lettuce, sugar snap peas, carrots, cucumbers), pickles and pickled okra, pink pancakes, mac-n-cheese, gum, any/all treats.
Still growing!  Doctor appt not until August, but she's around 46 inches tall and 49 pounds.
Continuing the cake for breakfast tradition is so fun!  We had to wake her up on her birthday - I love her sleepy eyes and bedhead.  She was soooo excited!

She looks so old to me in these pics <3
We ALL love the cake for breakfast tradition ;) When I asked Syd what we should get Millie for her bday, Syd instantly replied "a kangaroo".  Millie looked upset and said she didn't want a kangaroo.  Fine by me.
Also waiting for her after breakfast was her new bike!  It's bigger and heavier, but it looks super cool.  She's so proud of it!  And we're SO proud of her.  Five years old.  Our big girl.  Our sensitive one.  We're sooooo glad she's ours!  Happy birthday, sweet girl!

Fourth of July Weekend

What a fun holiday weekend!  Papa and Grandma Tricia came to visit.  The girls found out Papa was ticklish.  You should zoom in on his face...hilarious.
Millie and I baked some banana bread together.  She almost made it to the end of the recipe. ;)
Papa and Gma Tricia gave Millie and Syd their bday presents but the clear winner was this velvety purple bag, which made us all laugh.
We had some fun with fireworks and popsicles out front...and sweated a bit, of course.  July has been extra steamy around here.

Syd is obsessed with snappers
Millie prefers the sparklers.  She is officially past the tanks and chickens stage - she declared those boring this year!
We love when they come to visit!
Mimi & Pa were in town too, staying with mom - we had a lovely time with them for dinner
Monday was the actual fourth of july, which means Fab Four time!  The bigs get to go with the daddies to pick out fireworks.
Then we stuffed ourselves with chips place (showing off their red white and blue)
Then we came back home for more margs, water gun fights, and fireworks
It was an All-American time!
