2 Weeks Old
Syddles is already 2 weeks old! She had her two-week checkup at the pediatrician this morning, and she's officially a growing baby. Weight 7lbs, 3oz (finally bypassing her birth weight of 6lbs, 14oz), Length 20.25 inches, Head 14 inches. This puts her in the 25th, 50th, and 50th percentiles, respectively; however, we know that these charts are based on formula-fed babies and may not be accurate until closer to a year old. She was slightly jaundiced at birth (so was Millie), and all of the yellow coloring seems to be gone. Her heart sounds great (had them double check since Millie has her little heart defect). And her belly button fell off last night! Oh...and the not so great news that she is possibly milk protein sensitive (I had them check a couple of her poop diapers for traces of blood), the same as Millie was/is. So no dairy for me until we figure it out for sure. But if that is all we are worried about at this point, then I count ourselves as damn lucky. ;)

Maybe the Dingo Ate Your Baby...
The way that Millie says "baby" reminds me of Elaine on Seinfeld in the dingo episode...except more adorable.
Video: maybe the dingo ate your baby
More videos (sorry for the blurriness of the iphone videos):
Video 1: Millie sends Syd's piggies to the market
Video 2: Millie points out Syd's body parts
Video 3: Millie & Daddy's new game
Video 4: Millie & Daddy Bear Walk
Syd's first tummy time looked...uncomfortable. She kept trying to turn her head side to side but kept ending up high-centered and mashing her face into the mat.
Sydney has a lot of different looks already. This little face doesn't look anything like...
...this little face. She purses her lips a lot. ;)
I am very much enjoying this newborn phase, probably because I know how quickly it goes by. She is so sweet and easy to cuddle. Everything about her is still so easy. We are lucky lucky parents. ;)
On Memorial Day, we broke out the double stroller for the first time! We didn't walk too far...just up to the neighborhood playground, but it felt so great to be out and about! It's amazing how much better I feel now almost 2 weeks post-partum than I did the entire last 2 months of pregnancy. I'm really looking forward to starting up my regular early morning walks again.
sah-wheee
Syd slept the whole time ;)
Millie now goes down the big curly Q slide all by herself!
Millie looks & acts so much bigger to us...crazy how a new baby puts it into perspective how far we've come with Mills.
Can't believe she's almost 2 years old!
Apparently we make babies with a deep forehead V ;) Millie's hair now covers hers...Sydney has awhile. I think this pic is hilarious...as if she's asking "how's my hair look?".
At least someone is getting some good use out of the treadmill. ;)
Millie thinks it is absolutely hilarious when Beansie joins in the backyard fun
kiss
such a good sport

So...I had to change the name of the blog. I adored "The Milla Meter", but I obviously can't keep it named that when I now have Miss Sydney to blog about as well. For now, I'm going to call it "The Chronicles of Mills & Syd", but I reserve the right to change it again. I haven't fallen in love with anything, so if anyone thinks of a clever suggestion, by all means, send it my way! I had contemplated something like Millie + Sydney = SYLLIE, but then that felt...silly. Thus, I'm all ears. ;)

Aunt Coco in tha House
Saturday, Aunt Coco and Dan came out to see us! Dan got to meet Sydney for the first time, and in his words, she is the newest person he has ever seen. ;) That probably isn't accurate since he does have a younger brother, but I'm sure he was too young to remember Luc as a newborn. Anyhoo, it was very boring around here with all of us napping and not doing much of anything, but Dan was a good sport about it and did a great job helping entertain Millie.
Millie spends a good portion of every day taking Baby Stella's diaper off to check for poop. ;)

Sydney's First Week at Home
Sydney is still doing great and still super easy...although, I think she may be having some gassy tummy problems that aren't letting her sleep as peacefully (last night was a little rough). I hope it isn't the milk protein issue that Millie has had to deal with....we are watching for the signs. :(
first bath
Nana made Sydney this quilt; it is so bright and colorful...I love it!
Stickers are all the rage in our house right now!one-week old pics
love <3
Sydney is such a good baby...loves to sleep in the moses basket for the majority of the day
deja vu...sometimes the resemblance to Millie is crazy, but i think it is mostly the circumstances. like when she's wearing this hat and blanket in the infant chair...flashbacks ;)
Mills going in for the bazillionth kiss
saying "shhhhh" to calm her down (even though syd's not crying)
saying "hi babay" over and over
We had our newborn photography session with Amber Lanning this week. Amber is so good and comes up with the cutest set-ups. I can't wait to see how the pics came out. We had the first part of the session with only Sydney, then Millie came in for the last half hour for some sister pics. That....was interesting. Millie wanted no part of holding Sydney or letting us take any pics of her. Ahhhh, the terrible twos seem to be upon us. ;)
watch out where you're pointing that thing, Syd!
Millie pokes and prods on Syd all day long. She especially loves to point out her body parts...eyes, mouth, ears, toes, fingers, etc. And the way she says "babay" is soooo adorable.
We are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we have two kids...it's bananas...and completely awesome!
The Best Laid Plans...
Thursday was Millie Bear's last day of school...woo-wee, where does the time go?!
last day of school, 22 months old
first day of school, 13.5 months old
My mom picked her up from school, and I had her snap a pic of Mills with her beloved Ms. Erika. She made Millie's first school experience so special.
So I had this grand plan to pick Millie up from school and everybody go get ice cream to celebrate! I was super excited because Millie gets super excited about ice cream. Somewhere between school and TCBY, Millie decided she was upset about something...and I think it was Sydney related. Complete meltdown in TCBY...
Sydney & Nana behaving themselves
She wouldn't quit crying until daddy let her go get her own cup of ice cream
I let out a big sigh of relief thinking crisis-averted......but it was too soon. Then Millie didn't want to get in the car, so that was a fight and she cried all the way home. When we got home, she had the biggest tantrum I've ever witnessed, complete with screaming bloody murder and rolling around on the kitchen floor. It was so bad that I started crying. I've never ever seen her act like that; it absolutely broke my heart. Then Nana left later that afternoon, and it wasn't pretty. It was a day full of extreme emotions...thankfully, yesterday was much much better.
Millie brought this home from school on her last day...this pic was taken in August, what a difference 9 months makes!
Final art projects of the year...this week they learned about frogs and turtles.I'm sad Millie won't have school this summer, since she loves it so much. However, it will be nice not to rush around making lunch and trying to get her ready two days a week while getting used to a new baby. So maybe the timing was sort of perfect and we will be ready to tackle another school year in August.
