BEST FALL EVER

Labor Day Weekend: JKK went on a guy's trip to NY and Aunt Midge came to town!
School picture day <3

We love puzzles
Truly it's become an obsession.  And there are so many beautiful puzzles out there!
While kiddos were at school, we lounged by the pool at our athletic club.  Champagne included. *gasp*
Friday afternoon vibes
Aunt Midge keeps us laughing.

We rode our bikes to the 8th St Market for Mexican food and there just happened to be some music at The Momentary!
You Belong Here.

When you run out of puzzles....
Matinee Movie with Syd H
DADDY'S HOME!
At first glance, this is just another pic of the Fab Four.  But really it says so much.  Millie and Cayden are always together.  Syd is usually playing by herself.  And Beck is obsessed with baseball right now, so he's throwing the ball around.  Love them so.
Sometimes I can get JKK to puzzle with me.  We missed him.
Oh Piddy.  This tiny mouth of hers is trouble.  We had a consultation with the orthodontist to see when we should get the palate spacer put in, but first he wanted us to have 3 of her baby teeth pulled!  Ack!  This was awful - had to hold her down to get the gas.  Thankfully, it wore off fast and she recovered quickly!
Back to school the next day!  Hopefully the other big front tooth will start coming in now.
Syd loves to build forts and Lily loves to hang out in them.
Fun Fact: Bentonville is the Mountain Biking Capital of the World!  So of course there is a kids mountain biking club.  Syd joined this club in September and it was soooooo fun for her.  They took the kids on the beginner mountain biking trails and taught them all sorts of things I would never be able to.  Proud of her for joining when she didn't know anyone in the club!  Being on a bike is her happy place (and also camping).  She loves being outdoors!
Millie declined the club.  Biking is not her thing.  But that's okay, she still gets a little bike time to and from school.
Guess whose birthday it is?! (Nope, not Baggy's)
It's our favorite guy's birthday!  The big 51.
The girls like to go with a theme - this year, pirate!  Arggghhhhh
He requested the homemade angel food cake with raspberry sauce - yum!
We love you big daddy.
Found this flashback of Syd and I can see my future with that cat shirt and kitty cat shoes <3
Date Night!
Christie has to keep coming back to Oklahoma to take care of her sick mother.  I was able to get away for a day and get in some boat time and hang time with her!
Friends since wayyyyy back when.
While I was gone, Sydney got to go to Sawyer's birthday party and see her friends from her old school.  It was so good for her!
Syd tricks!
Sisters <3
Kendyl and Bailey, whom we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet!
Combat boots are back!
Lots of murals in our little downtown make it fun.  Can you see Syd?
Sugar Plum and Syd crafting together
Lily's graveyard.  She loves to kill these leaf bugs and play with them.
Ahhhhh finally, we are back to camping!  We always take the summers off because it's just too hot.

The girls had their eye on some stuffed animals from the gift shop.  So we hiked over...
...and on the way back, tragedy struck!  Man down.  Millie's raccoon slipped out of her hand into the nasty part of the creek and couldn't be recovered.  JKK pouring one out for his homey.  Millie was very upset. :(
Ginger loves to visit Lily...we aren't sure if she wants to eat her or play with her
Lily enjoys watching the kingdom from her porch
The McClungs and The Donnells - we love camping with them!
Syd listening to her audiobook walking around the campsite was pretty thrilling for me!
Oh hey!  Grayson and Bradley were also camping in the Den that weekend!
We actually had to drive back for Millie's first volleyball game!  She's the one serving here.  She did so great and really loved it!
Still having to mask up...ugh.
They won!  She had a great time!  Maybe she's found her sport.
Traci let us leave Syd with them at the campsite...she fits right in

Syd, Mill, Marlowe, and Jake
Bradley's family had a killer outdoor movie setup!
Traci brought a fall-themed craft for the kiddos
Syd comes with me to workout at the amphitheater sometimes.  I enjoy her company ;)
It's the most gorgeous, peaceful place to workout.

Another great trip.  Syd wore herself out and fell asleep on the way home!
Flashback to 2015!
Millie let me put her hair in braids.  This is a HUGE deal because she is the most tender-headed child.  Have you ever seen anything cuter than this?!

The girls found our box of old halloween costumes!
Syd loves wigs.  And JKK's old mullet wig really spoke to her.  She made us laugh so much with these videos of her talking like a redneck.
Biiiigggg stretchums
Syd got a sweet new mountain bike!  Weather starting to cool off, but we are still able to bike to school!
From June - September, I really enjoyed water aerobics!  Another beautiful place to workout.
Still managing to meetup with Sawyer for periodic playdates!
Best part of my day is picking them up from school!
Rawr.
Trying out a new lipstick.
My man.
Date nights are my fave.
Number 21 is our girl!  The badgers are undefeated so far!  Millie still loving it!
Her fan club loves to watch her!
Syd K and Syd H afternoon crafting project turned out beautifully!  These are melted crayons.  (This was at Syd H's house, obviously.  I am not much of a crafter. ;))
This fall weather makes us want to hang outside with our friends as much as possible!
Plays hard.  Sleeps hard.
Look at our girl!
I had to buy some crutches for my upcoming knee surgery, but Syd took them over as her toy for about a month.
Millie takes the best selfies.
Ohhhhh it's JKK's favorite day of the year!  Family picture time!

We always go out to eat afterwards to reward everyone - ha!  Necessary.  Syd in this headband is so cute tho, right?!
Her silly smile this year.
Curled her hair and it looked great!

Some mornings are hard.  But you know what?!  Get this girl on her bike and she's in a good mood by the time we get to school.
Millie is really settling in to her school also.  She's found a group of friends and is much happier!
Gutter girl scaring us.  This second story balcony is too high for her to jump off of, but it scares me that she might fall.
Look who's big enough to sit in the front seat!
Cool mornings and hot afternoons

I like being a girl mom.
Millie's alternate personality.
Enjoying patio time with our friends
Millie's new bestie: Leah.  She lives downtown too!  This is revolutionary.  They can walk to each other's houses.  What a concept!
School pride day - go bobcats!
First Friday on the square
Welp.  My concert dreams came true the first weekend in October.  Friday night was Ice Cube with Emily and Paul!
Legend.  He is still so good!  One of my fave concerts of all time.
The next night was Machine Gun Kelly with Paul and Emily!
Rockstar.  This was one of my favorite albums of 2020/2021.  Can't believe MGK came to our Amp!  Such a great show.
Syd is still loving her little bike club.  It's so cute at the end, they huddle up and talk about the ride.

Now that it's October, it's time to start talking Halloween costumes!  Millie requested that we decorate for Halloween, so this is as much as I can do.  But not bad, huh?!  Can you see Lily?

Back to (New!) School

It's mid-August and Open House is finally here!  Sydney got to see her room (Harry Potter themed!) and meet her teacher (Mrs. Held)!

She even met the school mascot, a bobcat!  Felt great to see her in a new school and being excited about 3rd grade!
Next up was Millie's Open House!  Can you see her smile?  It's fake.  She was a nervous wreck.  Like almost broke down there.  Honestly, it was overwhelming for all of us...I didn't realize that school was so big.  It has over 600 kids in it because several elementary schools funnel into it.  It was a rude awakening.  We did get to see her room and meet her teacher (Ms. Foshee)!
They managed to have a little fun ;)
Isn't this pic the best?!  Millie is so creative.
First day of school is here!  This smile is definitely new but still precious.

They were excited!
First day of 5th and 3rd - August 16, 2021
OH MY GOODNESS, we get to walk to school.  This has NEVER happened before.  I'm the most excited about it, but man....what fun!  No more carline!

Unfortunately, due to COVID, they did have to start school in masks this year.  Made me sad for them to start a new school and try to meet new friends in masks.  Syd had a great first day and already made some friends!
The entire week I couldn't quit taking pictures walking/biking to and from school.  Such a novelty!
Poor Millie had a tough first week.  She said no one sat by her at lunch the first day and I wanted to sob.  It took longer than with Syd...I think middle school is just a bit tougher to make friends.  I'm sure the masks don't help.  But the week did get better, thank goodness.
Oh heyyyyyy, it's Nana's birthday!!  Now, not to toot my own horn, but this homemade angel food cake was spectacular!  We love celebrating Nana!!  Gosh, she does so much for us.
Then I got to take mom out for a night on our own. <3
We went to the Tower Bar, which just happens to overlook our lot.  Look!  More progress!  They've got the blocks up!
Kendy's first day of her senior year!
Ethyn's first day of his junior year in college!
I love seeing them emerge from the school building.  What a privilege I have to get to do so much with them.

This was the first day we biked to school and it was awesome.

Lily pretty much spends all of her time on this balcony...pretty girl
dress-up with Sawyer!
The schools are so close, we like to walk up there in the evenings or weekends to play on the stuff that is always taken during recess ;)
The schools have fundraisers at various businesses that pledge part of that evening's sales to the school.  Not gonna complain about having to get ice cream on a summer night in the name of fundraising!
Well, pretty quickly, Syd was sent home to quarantine due to close contact with a positive case.  She never ended up getting sick and tested negative, so she was only home for about a week.
Homeschool with this one doesn't go well tho.  Both of us would rather she back in school as soon as possible!
Kids these days.
Syd had to go to the knee doctor with me and she stole some of their gloves.  She is so funny about these kinds of latex medical gloves!  Loves them and will wear them way toooooo long, getting super sweaty.
Ribs anyone?  We have the BEST BBQ PLACE one block from our house.  Dangerous.

Everyone is settling into the new schools and new routines.  It took about 6 weeks, but I think they are just as happy as I am with the change!  So glad we did it.
