Haircuts

The girls both got haircuts this week.  Both much needed.  Millie won't let me do anything fun with her hair, so I had the gal cut it off into an adorable little bob.  It looks cute on her and I hope it looks less stringy from now on.  Millie seems to like it too.
She was the perfect client.  Happy to watch Peter Pan and eat a sucker while staying still.

Syd was NOT the perfect client.  She hated every minute of it and let us all know.
The hair dresser just took a couple of inches off the back, so it didn't take long.  And it looks much better without so much "party" in the back.
Awesome memento of her freaking out
She was just fine once we got back in the car.  Of course.  Next time, JKK gets to take her.

School Update + Artwork

I try to take their pics together on Thursdays, since this is the day they both go to school.  Sometimes they cooperate.
This is what they look like after school.  Exhausted little drama queens.
Millie found one of our old phones and was acting like a teenager for a bit...completely in her own world.  Thankfully it only lasted for about a day.
Sometimes I can really see the resemblance
Usually one of them is pouting
Millie continues to love school and her teacher and most of her classmates.  She seems to participate and cooperate, and her teacher gives her lots of hugs.  This is just what Millie needed this year.
They've learned a lot about weather and winter lately.  Millie is disappointed that we haven't had snow this year.

She's getting better at writing her name
she can write quite a few letters now
still hasn't gotten down tracing, but we are working on it
look at this beautiful rainbow of colors
I think she has a knack for color coordination
She is constantly drawing these maze-type things.  Very intricate.

She's started drawing little pictures, like this awesome rocket!  Good job, Mills!!
Syd is finally getting into the artsy crafty thing
She likes to color for short periods of time...you know she's done when she starts eating the crayons.
lotsa polka dots
she sounds so cute when she says "fish"
Cars dipped in paint make cool tracks
Millie loves dropping Syd off in her classroom.  Syd is so comfortable now and happily waltzes right in and gives her teacher a hug.
I love this one.  Awesome job, Syddles.  Good concentration on the middle parts.
I know this doesn't look like much, but compared with her stuff from the first of school, this is big.

Her Monday teacher on the left is Ms. Bridgett and her Thursday teacher on the right is Ms. Erika (Millie's former MDO teacher!).
Syd was proud of this penguin (and she sounds so cute saying penguin too).  Valentine's Day is this week!! <3

January Mini Session

A few weekends ago, I took the girls to a Little Gym friend's house for a quick mini session.  The mom is trying to start a photography business, and I was happy to play guinea pig.  Unfortunately, Syd wasn't in the mood.  But she did manage to get some sweet ones, like this one of them reading books together.
Millie was all about it...very sweet
Syd, not so much.

We even tried letting them jump on the bed to cheer her up, but it didn't help.  Check out those legs!
Not even a trip outside with the umbrella could make that grumpy girl smile.
Oh well, I still love these umbrella pics...clenched fists and all. ;)

Mornings with Syd

Syd's easy.  Syd's happy 99% of the time.  Things have gotten even easier now that she is communicating so well.  She's putting a couple of words together now, too.  For example, she likes to say "oh no, what happened?!"  or "where'd it go?"...and the cutest "I seeeee you".  She loves life and food and just about anything that Millie likes to do.

She really loves Buddy and he seems to have accepted her...except when she's plowing him down with her baby stroller.
Here she's saying "nose" while putting her fingers up Beansie's nostrils
duck-watching
begging for juice
watching Sesame Street in style...she loves Elmo and Barney is her current favorite
She loves TV wayyyy too much.  I don't remember Millie being able to sit still for this long.  We are really going to have to limit it.  Isn't her mullet pretty spectacular?  It's wavy and feathery...I'm not ready to cut it yet.
Elmo's so funny ;)
Some funny videos:
Video 1: falling asleep during lunch
Video 2: yet another version of twinkle twinkle

For the record book:
She now has both bottom canine teeth (both came in at 19 months old).  She has also mastered galloping and jumping with both feet off the ground.  And she can walk across the balance beam without holding on to anything or anyone.
